    Prince of Persia

    Franchise »

Prince of Persia is an action adventure series created by Jordan Mechner in the late eighties. The original was a beloved 2D platformer, while the series' later incarnation in The Sands of Time set the bar for modern platforming and continues to influence games a decade later.

My only thought is that I should have taken Spanish in high school instead of French.

Screw the translating..I've reduced the size of the scans for better viewing.

While I liked the cell shaded style of the last game, I do much prefer this more realistic style which players are more used to.

Is it just me, or does it bother anyone that the Prince doesn't look like Either Sands of Time Prince, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nor Prince Of Persia Prince?

Looks a lot like a Prince of Persia game...  This is a good thing.

@L33tfella_H: Cerberus spent billions of dollars rebuilding him to be as close to the original as possible, though minor changes were made to his appearance. If you make more Renegade choices during the game he'll start to look more like Jake Gyllenhaal.

@Hamst3r: Aaaah, i see, they've gone all 'the inside reflects the outside' with this game. So if full renegade is Jake Gyllenhaal, is full paragon the original Prince model from the DOS game? like...down to the pixel? Is it gonna be Fully Roto-scoped?

I understand a little spanish- and there's nothing really interesting there, story is he visits his brother or something. But they don't know why.
Why would they return to the SoT?

    Also:
Tecnologia grafica de Assassins Creed. That's pretty obvious.

@L33tfella_H: Indeed, Paragon choices lead to him becoming more pixelated and two-dimensional. If you research the med-bay upgrade you can prevent him from becoming Gyllenhaal regardless of the choices you make.

After the last Prince of Persia, I can't wait to play the new one. Though, it looks like it's shifting back towards being closer to The Sands of Time, and I'm not so sure I like that.

Why do they have to change the look and style for every damn game? I'd prefer some consistency for once.

I think it mentions that it runs on the AC engine, possibly the AC2 build of it.

EDIT: As TwoLines already pointed out :P

I feel sorry for fans of the franchise, not having a stable face for the "prince' in any game. At least it isn't a sequel to that arsty-farsty, Nathan Drake version. Missed out on the "original trilogy" and seeing their cutscenes online, Ubisoft could of had a God of War contender here if they cleaned the combat up.

Pretty excited to see how the movie turns out since the trailer wasn't half-bad.

There are multiple Links in the Legend of Zelda franchise, and that works just fine.  What's the problem with the Prince's design changing?

Is it too much to ask for a proper Sands of Time sequel with Yuri Lowenthal voicing him again :( ...

The problem is that the first 3 games were supposed to be a trilogy. Same thing with the new 2008 Prince of Persia. That was supposed to be the first entry in a new trilogy, but now they're going back to the realistic look? It just doesn't make sense to me. Why call it a trilogy in the first place if their intentions are to throw away the previously established art direction everytime they make a new game?. You wouldn't expect Master Chief or Marcus Phoenix to look and behave drastically in every new iteration, now would you?

As a fan of every PoP game, I can say I enjoy them changing the games up for the better. As long as it doesn't go in a goth direction like the later PoP's before the 2008 one.

Although I'm super sad they never followed up on the last POP game (I loved Nathan Drake Prince and Elika), I do think that this looks significantly better than I thought it would.  Still want to see the game in motion, but I'm at least hoping this turns out decent.
