Prince of Perisa, Now With More Smart-Assery

Not so long ago, Ubisoft published a reboot of the Prince of Persia series with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Five years have passed and we’re onto an entirely new console generation, so Ubisoft decided that we needed a new Prince.

The latest installment in the franchise is simply titled Prince of Persia, no subtitle this time. You play as an unnamed, smart-ass drifter who, while wandering through the desert looking for his donkey, comes upon a woman in trouble named Elika. Our nameless protagonist (who isn’t even a damn prince), follows Elika into a whole mess ‘o trouble. It seems that Elika is a Princess and her King father has unleashed an evil god called Ahriman who has spread darkness and terror across the land and its up to John Doe & Elika to restore light and beauty to the land and lock Ahriman back up in his cage.

If you’ve played the previous games in this series, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what this game is like. You’ve got some Matrix-style acrobatic moves at your disposal, and you’ll spend most of your time traversing large open vistas in ultra crazy Cirque du Soleil style. Each level consists of a decent size area for you to jump your way around, ending with a fight with a demon which will purge the land of darkness and make it all touchy-feely again once you’ve introduced your sword to its sternum.

To start things off I know that Prince of Persia is a game that has been out for awhile (specifically 7 months), but when I saw this game new for $20 at Gamestop I had to get it.  However, it was one of the games that did not come in a wrapped up box but an envelope that was behind the counter that was then put into the box on the store floor.  At first I was like well that's strange seeing how the box says new.  From what I have been told these are actually games that Gamestop employees have pl...

I go way back with the Prince of Persia series. I played the SNES port of the original side-scrolling game, and I absolutely hated it. Then I played Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the PC, and I was absolutely blown away. Superb graphics, beautiful art-direction, and a great story-book plot made The Sands of Time a great game. Then, Warrior Within came along.
