My week in Gaming (Bully, Mirrors Edge, Max Payne 3 & more)

No Caption Provided

Hey all. Just thought I'd do another quick blog about my gaming over the past week or so. These are the games I've been playing recently or will be playing soon and some thoughts on them.

Bully: Scholarship Edition - After asking in a previous post what game I should review next, this game was the most popular choice so I took that advice and did just that. You can find that review here. Even after playing the game extensively for review I continued to play until I got the 100% and every achievement. Dunno if that shows the longevity of the game or my obsession with trying to beat a game entirely.

Max Payne 3 - I keep going back to the multiplayer on this game every so often as there's someone about it that's really addictive. I took advantage of the triple XP weekend that just passed to finally get to Level 50 and the connectivity issues seem to be less frequent which is great.

Mirrors Edge - Only played this game for an hour so far and seems pretty cool, albeit quite repetitive. I like the frantic pace and style very much however. If I find time to review this next I will, however in one weeks time I shall be getting...

Resident Evil 6 - As I mentioned I will definitely be reviewing this game next and right now I have mixed feelings. RE is probably my third favorite franchise but I'm really not hyped for this game. 5 burned me badly and I've tried to avoid previews for this game but the small amount I've seen looks like the worst parts of 5 yet again. Such a shame from an amazing series which had a great return to form in Revelations on the 3DS this year. I'll reserve judgement till after playing it however.

FIFA 13 - The other game I have preordered for release soon. I have a love/hate relationship with these games. I'll spend a majority of my gaming time playing them but always resent it and wish I was playing more unique compelling titles on the market. Oh well. The cycle starts again soon...

So have you played any of these games lately? Anyone else skeptical about Resident Evil 6 but still optimistic like myself? Let me know and tell me what games you've been playing recently.

Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games ever.

Hearing negative opinions about it increases the rate at which I sharpen my stabbin knife.

Haha fair enough. Don't really have an opinion on it yet as I've only just started it but it's differently unique and intriguing so far.

Out of all the games you listed, Bully is the one I most want a sequel for, and thats by a long shot (sorry Mirrors Edge fans)

I enjoy that game so much. The basic combat is great because its taken from The Warriors and altered a bit. Then throw in a ton of minigames and the ability to change Jimmy's clothes and hair and a little city to roam around in and grabbing teacher's asses and making out with fat chicks by giving them chocolate and giving wedgies to kids and tackling the prefects and throwing stink bombs at people and... I need to go play it

You should do dude. It's a really fantastic game. I agree, Bully really needs a sequel.

I keep playing this game on and off. I can see how it was fun five years ago, but it just feels too outdated in every way to be played in the present day. I get tired of those animations and mechanics.. I guess this is Rockstar's curse, they create games that are an absolute blast for a year or two then they just feel ancient. I shall be returning to Bully sometime soon.

Max Payne 3 - I keep going back to the multiplayer on this game every so often as there's someone about it that's really addictive. I took advantage of the triple XP weekend that just passed to finally get to Level 50 and the connectivity issues seem to be less frequent which is great.

Was interested in your opinions on the singleplayer, I am disappoint!

One advice: This is not a shooter. Most of those who think ME is broken think the shooting is broken. Once you realize you are a freerunner who is supposed to evade the cops and, when needed, swiftly and skillfully attack them with your moves, sometimes pick up their rifles (IF there's too many of them which makes killing a few necessary) and shoot as few as you can until you have a chance to escape, you will enjoy it.

Try to immerse yourself as an agile free runner, master Faith's moves and defy the physics, use her strength which is well-timed kick-to-the-face attacks and always look for a path to escape. One of the most satisfying games ever made!

@AhmadMetallic: Max Payne 3 single player I'm torn on after completing it two times so far. I really like the gameplay if you play it as a cover-based shooter but if you try and play it like previous MP games by flying through the air you get destroyed. I love the locations and style very much and Max as a character is great. The other characters and story overall I think are very poor unfortunately.

Regarding Mirrors Edge I heard beforehand that there is an achievement for beating the game without shooting anyone so that's what I'm doing. So far I'm really enjoying it. I really prefer the parts where you have to constantly sprint to evade the bad guys. When I'm playing I pretend I'm being chased by agents from The Matrix that are so much more powerful than me you can't fight them, you just have to run. Whether this is true or not I don't know as I don't stick around to find out!

@Baillie: When did I say I was reviewing it? Haha. I may do in the future. Right now I've got more than enough with Mirrors Edge and the Resident Evil 6. We shall see...

Haha that's the best thing I've ever read! Damn good one dude.

@AhmadMetallic: Haha. Thanks! Wow. That actually looks like a lot more fun than the 360 version.

@Vinny_Says: They usually do 1 or 2 a month. Check Rockstar's twitter as they always say when they are happening.
