How should I build my base? What do you think I should spec towards first?

What should I know before I attempt this? This will be my first playthrough of the game ever and I know it will be very challenging, but I think it'll be a fun experience. I just want to be prepared before I do it.

I ask this because my overall interest in Nintendo as a whole is at an all time low. The WiiU is interesting in concept, but Nintendo properties aren't what they used to be for me. I didn't grow up with Nintendo as I was more of a Playstation kid and had very few N64 games. So I don't have a deep emotional attachment to them like older people. The last Nintendo games a cared about were Metroid Prime and Wind Waker as I feel they were the best games of that generation. So do you still care about Nintendo?

This thing will be streamed on XBOX LIVE. Do you think they'll cut all the PS3 exclusive stuff from that stream? Also will it have a dude teabag another dude on stage?
