"All Your Base Are Belong to Us" may be in the permanent geek canon, but I never learned about it until much later. This is a short list of the weirdness I actually experienced personally, and will hopefully grow the more I remember.
Pick a chapter... I never really fully understood the dense political conflicts in this game, in part because the translation was so painfully vague.
Some cultural stuff was a bit confusing (why is that girl wearing a sailor's costume? How weird!) but I'm pretty sure most people, even back then, knew what "noodles" meant. But instead, I guess to make damned sure people knew what they were talking about, noodles were translated into "spaghetti." Not earth-shattering, but very strange.
Translations have come a long way since games like Ninja Gaiden :)
