You could always play with bots just to get a handle on the classes and controls, but from the messing around I've done with them, the bot AI isn't too great.

I imagine if they did make a console, it would be somewhere between the Wii and 360/PS3. I don't think it would be of any interest to those looking to get the most "hardcore gaming" out of their console, though. I just can't imagine actual games being released on the thing. It would dethrone the Wii as the king of shovelware.
 
As far as cost goes: you thought Five Hundred Ninety Nine US Dollars was bad?
 
Also, the controller would have like two buttons, lololololol.

All of the non-community weapons can be obtained through Achievement Milestones. Each class has three milestones. Scout's Milestone 1 (Complete 10 Scout achievements) will unlock The Force-A-Nature, for example.
Technically you can craft any unlock (a non-stock weapon). Likely, you'll want to hang on to at least one of each unlock just to have in your backpack for certain situations, so any extras that you find through the random drop system will be used for crafting.
The only hats attached to achievements that I can think of right now are the Halloween Event ones. Other than that, all hats must be found through the random drop system or crafted.

I've been recieving a couple of updates since the big engie update.  Are these just patching and balancing, or is something far more sinister afoot?...  ...oh wait, it's Valve, I guess it's just a "the caek iz a lei!!1110ne" easter egg, 3 years too late. "
Two of them were fixing new Engineer exploits, one of them was a source engine update.

Valve said they'd be adding stats to the items. Will they be all-new items just like the other community items, or just reskins? The Sniper's unlocks, for example, parallel the current unlocks pretty well. What stats do you put on the shield so that it still behaves like the shield but isn't exactly the same? Makes backstabs do regular melee damage, doesn't break when backstabbed? That's about all I can come up with.
