Well, the virtual boy was supposed to be a handheld... though it certainly wasn't portable.

One other contender would be Atari 5200. Just bad design decisions all around, including a controller that is almost as big as the console itself. Not to mention, it wasn't compatible with Atari 2600 games, which were popular. Their competitor managed to pull it off(Yes, their competitor Colecovision was actually compatible with Atari 2600 games, with an "Expansion Module"), why wasn't Atari able to?

Much shorter? Super Mario Bros. can be completed in an hour, most of the old Mega Man games can be completed in two. Even the games that aren't straightforward platform games, like the old Metroid and Final Fantasy games, doesn't have content that even approach today's games. SMB would never survive today, even as a $5 download on virtual console, if it didn't have the iconic status. It just isn't a good game by today's standard. I think part of the reason why it's easier, is because the games are better. Part of what made the old games hard was sometimes they suffered glitches, or even poor level design that made what was intended to be relatively easy, frustratingly hard.

One point you haven't touched on is that most games today have a difficulty setting. I just move my setting to the highest one possible and I don't have to worry about games being too easy.

"you know you are all discussing genocide which is sick right, i have a couple of things to say to this,
1. to captain_fookup im guessing your american right (don't ask me how i know), and do you know that the U.S uses 60% of the worlds oil reserves and without the middle east the U.S would just cease to operate

2. Africa's poverty is almost a result of the wests greed, think about how in america you have the climate and better conditions to produce almost every type of agriculture going, however in africa they are limited to what they can produce, America can also offer it for a better price/quantity than what they could so africa lose out in that sense. As for a country to grow they need to have a stable agricultural industry, as going back hundreds of years ago it was that which funded the global economy, so countries with a better economy were able to grow and spend money on other aspects of growth such as technology, industrial age and so on. As for africa they didn't have the a good agricultural industry because of the competitors, therefore they weren't able to expand and grow as western countries did. not to mention that *god* delt them a shit hand with constant famin, lack of water and fertile ground. And it not like its your country's money any way that goes to africa they all lend *fake digital money of each other* FYI africa doesn't need money they need comodities such as gold, silver and jewles thats what would help them as it would allow them to make their own trade, yet their one and only form of comodity was made illegal (Conflict dimonds). Why? so that the western countries can control africa's poverty and keep it weak, beacuse what would happen if they were made legal.Think about it?

3. we do live off africa's poverty, have you ever give a homeless person some money to help them out then told then in three day you will be back to collect the money you give them with interest? Well that what america does to africa making sure they stay in poverty

See you do learn something new every day
 (Im white by the way)

Going back to the inital forum tpic, i would like to meet hideo kojima and spend a year working with him,  he is like a modern day Confucius"
The climate? You do know that Africa has the best foundation for agriculture in the world, right? You know they have a lot of natural resources, including diamonds, gold and oil, right? And while the western world did have a hand in their current economic state, a series of lethal diseases, corrupt leaders and poor industrial development are the main reasons why that region is suffering from poverty on that scale.

You have to remember, that part of the reason why Europe, and by extension the U.S., have had a better development is because of the harsh living conditions in Europe. Harvest was necessary to survive, as was organization, which was carried over when the Spanish, English and French colonized America.

Lending them money makes sense, they get money to invest in industrial development, then use some of the money they make on exporting their natural resources on paying back the loan with interest. That way, the African country creates a foundation for further wealth, while America isn't any worse of. You do know that America is in a financial crisis, right? In fact, they decided to share their financial crisis with the world.

Also, I never said I'd kill all the people in Africa, I just said killing 80% of the world's population would solve most of the problems we're suffering today, and even some we'll suffer in the future. I'm not at all selective when it comes to racial issues.

Oh, but there are so many to choose from...

I'd say Cloud's cross dressing scene in FFVII. The end of KOTOR2 was also totally weird, it didn't make any sense at all... Which is too bad, because I really liked it up until that point.

"How about the relative closeness of DNA between most living organisms to humans?  The idea of evolution is so skewed that people don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

Humans and monkeys differ by about 3% DNA genetic coding.

Monkeys and geckos differ by about 14%.  -_-  That puts humans at a 17% difference from a lizard.

Geckos and fern trees differ by about 25%.  That puts humans about 42% off from a tree.

So...in turn...were humans once trees?  Did we "evolve" into humans?  NOPE!

The general idea of this is that DNA is more of a fingerprint, a signature if you will, of everything that is created and made by a supreme power.  What's more interesting is that many scientists and researchers who once believed strictly and devotedly in evolution are now starting to support the ideals of creationism.

I found that very amusing, thank you. I could barely keep a straight face while I was reading it.

I believe this has been said, but humans didn't evolve from any of the monkeys that live today. Evolution works slow, making incremental changes from generation to generation. Humans share descendants with monkeys, that's pretty obvious with all the research that's been conducted since Charles Darwin's theory. Just because it seems implausible, doesn't make it untrue. You obviously haven't read more than creationist propaganda.

Also, while I don't believe in God, I never understood why evolution was the definitive evidence that God didn't exist...

I've always thought the solution to most of the world's problem would go away if we killed about 80% of the population. Less pollution, to keep the environmentalists happy. Less poverty, to make all the charity people happy(though they may object to the mass murder). Would also solve the inevitable problems with overpopulation and world hunger...

No, that logic is flawed. While I agree that poverty is defined by wealth, my existence isn't automatically made better just because there are poor people in Africa.

My dream would be somewhat more mundane. I'd want to write a reasonably successful series of book, a move script or maybe even direct a movie. I'd also really like to be the writer for the story in a game. Have all this bottled-up creativity and have no idea where to use it.

Wow, there are quite a few powers I'd like to have... So, here they are:

Superhuman Strength: It would be kinda cool to just toss a car every now and then. Also, wouldn't have any problems opening a jar.

Superhuman Speed: But only if was able to think fast enough to react and really think about the stuff I did while moving faster than sound. I don't think the human brain is adept at calculating movements at that speed.

Telepathy: The ability to not only read the minds of others, but also control them, though this power has devastating potential and I probably would've screwed it up.

Telekinesis: Now, this is probably my second choice. The ability to move any object with a mere thought has always appealed to me. Like telepathy, this power would probably be too dangerous.

True Immortality: My first choice. True Immortality is the power to not die. You're immune to all forms of disease and poison. Your body never becomes permanently damaged. You can fall out of an airplane, land on some jagged rocks and still survive... though it hurts like hell for a while. This would also probably be the least selfish choice, as I can aid generations with knowledge spanning centuries, not to mention attain it... However, if I were to be a true immortal, I'd also like the ability to hibernate, sleep through some of the rough spots.

Yes, they are vaguely connected. Mega Man X is the Mega Man of the future... which is a bit redundant because Mega Man was already in the future.

Well, not vaguely connected, Mega Man X is a far more powerful and advanced version of Mega Man, with the ability to think and feel(does that mean that Mega Man can't?). Light feared X was too powerful and potentially corruptible, so he locked him in a capsule for several years, so he wouldn't go crazy and take over the world. Think of X as Mega Man 2.0. Since both were invented by Light and exist in the same world(though not at the same time), they do have a connection.

Yes... sadly.

Mega Man is a victim of time. He was totally awesome when the first three games came around, but time changed some and he didn't. Same when Mega Man X came around, they changed as little as possible for the sequels and when they first started to make changes, they weren't very good changes.

Luckily, it looks like Retro games live on through Xbox Live Marketplace, PSN and Wii Virtual Console and it might be best for Mega Man if they just make more Mega Man "NES" games. Mega Man 9 was awesome.

Sorry, I don't form an opinion before I know what I need to know, and even then it's subject to change. Suffice to say, I don't try to form an opinion about most thing, though I do try to understand it.

So, as in most cases, further research is needed for me to form an opinion.
