Seriously going to do a half an hour episode after the last two episodes were barely progressable and there was a weekend? Also most of the half hour/40 minute episodes felt like they could've been edited into 2 episodes, it's kinda very frustrating to watch these sometimes due to the pacing.
I'm not sure what your argument is here. Are you saying you wanted a longer episode or a shorter one?
Also the point of an Endurance Run is to "endure" through a game in its entirety. Everything is done on-screen and nothing is cut.
Keep in mind that this concept started with Ryan Davis' desire to play through Persona 4 when he didn't otherwise have time to do so. You can currently watch all 150+ hours of that playthrough and others in their entirety, without a single edit.
@boozak: Because it's not very Metroidvania, and calling it that with the possible intent of attracting Metroidvania fans is going to leave those fans extremely disappointed. The game is more inspired by Cave Story than anything else, and I don't think anyone would call that Metroidvania.
Did the previous games actual come out in the West? I've been looking out for them ever since the PSP one was announced but I've never heard of any releasing until now.
@toparaman: I'll say the same thing I said when DmC was announced: It's extremely daunting for a studio to try their hands at traditional character action gameplay in a world where Platinum has basically dominated the genre for almost a decade now. DmC made a good effort, but it wasn't enough to avoid Bayonetta/Metal Gear Rising comparisons. They tried to make the focus be more on the story, but its story was hot garbage.
It looks like this new God of War is trying to invent a new kind of character action sub-genre -- somewhere between Dark Souls and Metal Gear Rising (which managed to fuse character action gameplay with a closer, behind-the-back camera).
I was hoping Kratos' story would end with God of War III and a more interesting protagonist would take over in newer games, but if they're trying to do a multiple protagonist thing, that'd be cool too. With so many references to how cool the kid's mom is, I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up being a third playable character.
Wow this game looks super clunky especially when fighting guys. Also I wonder if the blur is from the poor image quality on consoles
The first game was also clunky when dealing with combat, but it was (largely) avoidable. Combat in this one is avoidable too, but it looks like Alex engaged enemies just to show off how much the combat has improved.
As far as general gameplay goes, it's basically first-person Skate with story progression. It's going to feel real junky until you get better at it, then it kind of feels amazing. Also wouldn't recommend it unless you're heavy into speedrunning and time trials.
Honestly, the prospect that I could use the headset to watch/play content on a simulated 255 inch display is far more intriguing to me than the actual VR stuff. Games designed to showcase new tech are almost always terrible, or at the very least their forced tech demo features detract from whatever experience the game itself was trying to produce. Looking forward to the Year 2 batch of PSVR games though.
How long is it going to be before this game gets scored? Sounds like these problems won't be fixed until March, in which case it seems a bit unfair to give Capcom a whole month to cover up their failure before they get scored. Though on the other hand, other review outlets are all too happy to give the game glowing reviews despite it not having any real content besides VS and an online mode that's kind of broken.
