@zevvion: PUBG copied shooting mechanics? That's how it's a clone and ripoff of other games? lol, you're just grasping at straws. To compare the entire shooter genre to a particular new game mode is idiotic. I don't know which game is more popular. I haven't seen any news stories on it and I think Twitch is lame, so I haven't been on there to see Fortnite with more viewers as you say, if that's true. Just about everything I've seen you say in here has been wrong and you obviously don't know when to stop so I'll end it here. I didn't know someone could be a fanboy for a game that they've supposedly never played, so you did teach me something there lol.

@zevvion: More like Fortnite blatantly copied another game. I've never heard anyone say that modding was bad or unethical unless it was some sneaky/lazy paid mod. ARMA itself has nothing to do with the BR mode, they most likely chose that game because it was accessible and mod friendly, they gave it battle royale. As far as the gameplay goes, ARMA and PUBG don't have the same shooting, driving, inventory, etc. I've played ARMA and its way more meticulous and realistic because it's a military sim. PUBG is more realistic than COD, but it's not near ARMA. I know you said you like to watch games, but if you actually played these you'd know their gameplay differences.

@zevvion: The conversation is about the BR mode, ARMA didn't have a BR mode until the PUBG creator created one.

@notnert427: @zevvion: PUBG starting as an ARMA mod doesn't mean PUBG copied or cloned ARMA. By that logic DayZ is an ARMA ripoff, that's silly when they are all completely different concepts and types of games. The ARMA mod just used ARMA assests since they were modders/indie devs at the time. Using ARMA assets has nothing to do with the creation of the battle royale mode itself. From what I've seen of Minecraft's BR mode it's not like PUBG, so you still haven't name all the games PUBG has cloned and ripped off.

Zevvion, you call others fanboys or question their motatives while trying to seem impartial because you haven't played either game, but you obviously have your own bias. No one neutral or who wasn't a fan would spend so much time defending a game lol.

@zevvion: I've never seen a game with the same mode as PUBG before, not counting the ARMA mod and H1Z1, since all three of these games involve the same dev. No one here has named a game that PUBG is ripping off. I looked up the Minecraft mod and that didn't look like PUBG. So I don't accept or assume PUBG is ripping off another game until I see it happening.

I have no idea which game is more popular so that argument falls apart with me. I don't care which game is more popular. I took the OP's question as "is it okay that Epic copied PUBG in order to save their dying game" and I'd say no. I'd rather them do something more unique and cool than just copy the hot new thing at the moment. I actually like Epic a lot because of Gears.

@zevvion: You can talk about a game without playing it sure, but once you start telling people who actually play the game what the gameplay is like or if a game "feels" like a mod or not, you start to seem ridiculous. I don't think anyone in this whole thread has said they have the same exact gameplay, we're talking about the game mode, which is what made Fortnite popular. I only heard people making jokes of Fortnite before, including the Bombcast to a degree. The other stuff you mentioned is subjective. I'd say Fortnite is more mobile in a lot of ways, but definitely not more skill-based.

@zevvion: You can doubt it all you want, but I've played Fortnite for hours while you haven't played it all, so you acting like you know what you're talking about is pretty funny. I never built like the guy in your video and I was successful, usually in the top 10, and I never saw anyone else building stuff that big/fast either. Maybe he's just very good at the game and/or doing extra stuff to get attention on Youtube, I don't know, but that's not usual Fortnite gameplay or a good example of its normal moment to moment scenarios.

The videos I've seen of the Minecraft mods don't look like PUBG. You keep saying PUBG ripped off all these other games but aren't backing it up with accurate specifics, what are all these games? I never said it was just shooting each other and staying alive, PUBG and Fortnite are obviously much more than that simple concept, but you're overly simplifying things so you sound right.

I don't know how anyone can say "it doesn't feel like a mod" when they haven't played either game. You don't know what it feels like since you haven't played it. The cheating problem of PUBG is a PC problem, not really a Xbox problem, but that does need to get fixed ASAP. I'm not rooting for Fortnite to fail, I just don't like it, we all have stuff we don't like... big and small.

@zevvion: You said they made a more entertaining game, which is basically the same as saying it's better. I don't watch much of either game, but I've actually played both. The moment to moment gameplay is basically the same: land somewhere, loot the buildings, stay in the circle, survive shootouts, keep moving to the next circle, etc. I'm no pro gamer, but I'm often in the top 10 when I play both games. I don't see much building, or if they do, a rocket is going that way soon if it's a building that they're camping in.

I still don't see you or anyone else who said PUBG ripped off other games naming what those games are. I'd like to know so I can take a look for myself.

@zevvion: What are all these games that PUBG is ripping off and being a clone of? I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'd actually like to know, since you and other people have said that, but no one has named a game in particular. I mean a game where the main dev of PUBG wasn't involved, since I know about the ARMA mod and H1Z1 game mode that he created.

Also, you saying Fortnite took it and made it better is your opinion, which is fine, but let's not say that like it's a fact. Plenty of people don't like its shooting and other core mechanics. Fortnite should be more popular; it's free, on more platforms, and backed by a major studio.

@adamlcook: Are you talking about the ARMA devs because that's a military sim that PUBG doesn't feel or play anthing like at all. I bought ARMA just to play DayZ and so did everyone I know, so in that case, a mod got them a lot of money. I think we'll have to agree to disagree since I don't see things from your perspective at all.
