I think having expectations is fine. Having zero expectations out of anything might even be impossible. It's a matter of preventing our expectations from colouring our experience. An important thing to understand is that we can still enjoy things we are critical of. Separating our expectations from reality is a difficult thing to do, but it's worth trying!

"Hype", on the other hand, is something different than personal expectations. I don't know, I just try to ignore it because I realise that none of it matters. Video games and movies being good or bad have very little effect on my general well-being! I have better things to worry about in my life.

I'm not really familiar with photography myself, but The Wirecutter (link) has a pretty good shopping guide for cameras.

I'm tearing up just thinking about Link's grandma. She reminds me of my own late grandma...

Speaking of Zelda, I'm so excited to hear the music in Breath of the Wild. The bits and pieces of impressionist music I've heard in the demos and trailers sound so beautiful!

Okay, I think this time I will try to make something. Thanks for organising this once again, and good luck everyone!

@spaceinsomniac: Maybe it is "unprofessional" (I honestly don't know what that means in the context of a personal Twitter account), but the take that this is most likely a desperate measure to promote his game kinda came out of nowhere? I mean, the tweet is silly and all, but that conclusion (as amusing as it is) is assuming a lot. This overblown response to the tweet just seems mean-spirited to me.

I don't get it. It's just a tweet on his personal account. I mean, his previous tweets are about brunch. This hot take seems like a stretch.

I've never checked, but I'd be preeetty upset if Steam and Origin and the like store your password anywhere on the PC. I'm only aware of web browsers doing that unencrypted.

It's already been said, but Far Cry 2 is a must. It is one of the most uncompromising and divisive FPS of all time. It's like an insane person made it. It's almost completely systems-driven, and the systems are so weird and chaotic. I think it's more influential than people usually give it credit for.

Tested is literally called Adam Savage's Tested now, who cares about Mythbusters.
