Beware of going into mission 45, you can not return to the ACC without completing it, it seems. Also that mission is a bitch.

You can't abort the mission? Actually, that brings up something I've been wondering - if you fulton some guys and resources early in a mission and then get to a checkpoint/autosave, do you keep all the stuff you got before the checkpoint if you leave the mission? Or does it retroactively remove anything you've captured since the start of the mission?

This could be big because there are some missions that are really long but have one or two important things I still need to get. I'd rather not go through all of, say, Mission 12 again if I don't need to.

Maybe this is obvious, and the game explicitly TELLS you this, but I still didn't realize it for like 25 hours: When you're aiming a thrown item (empty magazine, grenade, etc), you can throw a lot farther if you hold RT/R2 down for a second or two. The short arc that shows up when you first press the button gets replaced with a bigger arc if you wait a moment. This gets you more distance and a higher arc that can go over fences and stuff.

Until I realized this, I was wondering why the legendary Big Boss couldn't throw stuff further than 5 or 6 feet.

@bbalpert: Thanks for checking that out and spreading the word. One more question. You are saying C4 can be placed on an active guard but do they notice it? Or if you are stealthy enough can you place it on a moving guard and let him go on patrol and BOOM!

Basically I am trying to make guards suicide bombers.

I haven't tried doing that, myself, but I thought I remembered hearing you could do that. I may be conflating this and Fallout 3, where you could use the pickpocket interface to stick live grenades in people's pockets.

As for #2, the question about mission GMP rewards returning to normal, I think I've figured it out. This is still speculation, though. It does seem to be related to how many other missions you've done since then. I don't remember the number specifically, but for the sake of this example, let's say it's 5 missions. So hypothetically, mission 3 rewards 10,000 GMP the first time you do it. When you complete the mission, the reward for doing it again goes down to 5,000. Completing it that second time bumps the reward down to 2,500.

If you then go on to do the next missions, once you finish mission 8, the reward for mission 3 goes back up to 5,000. Completing mission 9 brings mission 3 back up to the original 10,000. The next completed mission would put mission 4 back to its full reward, then mission 5, and so on, in the order that you took on the missions.

But again, this is just how I'm guessing it all works.

@ddi_kazal_st_drebin: I will report back later. If it's not the case i will be sorely disappointed. The main MGSV community guy did show off attaching C4 to a distracted guard, so I see no reason why you can't put C4 on a sleeping one.

I tried it last night. Unless there's some specific button to attach C4, to a prone soldier, it doesn't seem like it works. It is weird that you can't plant bombs when they're knocked out but you CAN when they're awake, but it KIND of makes sense when you consider that killing with a knife has the same restrictions.

Tip I saw on Twitter from Justin McElroy: If you need to stop a jeep/truck but don't have D-Horse at the moment (because horse poop is clearly the PREFERRED way to stop vehicles), toss a smoke grenade into the road ahead of it. When a jeep or truck drives up to a big smoke cloud, the driver will stop and everyone will get out of the vehicle to investigate. Note that this only works on vehicles where you can see the driver, so tanks and APCs just drive through the smoke.

Another extraction tip: if you have a prisoner that's too injured to fulton, just put them in a jeep and extract it. You can fit two people in the back.

I think you can use this to extract children, too (before you get the fulton upgrade that lets you do that directly).

Looking sharp, Snake. Metaphorically. Literally, you're looking a little blurry there, buddy.

The tricky thing about the R&D platform's challenge is that unlike other platforms that have a specific path of targets, R&D's path has a few branches that lead to dead ends (but still have targets). So if you just take the main path, you'll get to the end with maybe 28/35. If you take a branch but think it's a main path, you'll just get lost. You have to know where the branches are and perhaps more importantly, where they end (so you can turn around and go back to the main path).

I've seen that enemy equipment is tied to what tactics you use (such as guards using NVGs because you're doing a lot of ops at night), but I've also seen it theorized that this stuff only comes into effect if someone saw you. That means activating Reflex Mode, I think.

I also wonder whether this applies if you enter Reflex Mode but don't leave any witnesses. I got through most of the game popping out in front of guys, putting a tranq dart in between their eyes in RM, and fultoning them before anyone else noticed something was wrong.
