@bananasfoster: Well... the earlier, and most of, your arguments have been that this "jank" is part of the charm and that it should be accepted because there is literally no other game that does what Bethesdas games does. It sounds kinda harsh when you read it on paper, but I really do get what you mean. Still, I feel like I've accepted this jank before. It was there in Fallout 3, and I accepted and embraced it. Personally gave me more humor than annoyance anyways. I accepted it in Skyrim, but I didn't embrace it. It felt old, the novelty had worn of and it was more of an annoyance than it was something to laugh at. Now, we're at Fallout 4, and the jank is STILL THERE. I do not mind a little jank in my games, but the sheer amount of it in Fallout 4 is too much when I've seen it all before. As with many other here, it's now at that point where it's ruining my immersion with the game, and for a game that aims so high at this immersion that's not a good thing.
As to the graphics I couldn't care less. I would never call the graphics in this game bad, because the aren't. They might not be what some people expected because of other games, but then again... OTHER games. I agree that for example Witcher 3 graphics would take away more than it would give to the game, so I actually prefer it like it is now over that. Though, graphics alone aren't what most people here are complaining about, they're mostly complaining about animations. And god, they're bad. They're not awful, but they're bad. And I'm back again to this one thing I really want from this game - immersion. It's very hard to be immersed when I feel like I'm talking to a stiff plank, where dialogue often just mutes/stops completely and worse - where I don't fully control what my character, me, is saying.
Which brings us to the last part I want to bring up. You say these games are all about being sandox/RPG. Not playing, but LIVING in a world that feels dynamic and alive. Can't really put the words on it myself, but you probably know what I'm trying to get at. Anyways, I agree. There are no other games, nor developers, that truly does what Bethesda do, BUT... Bethesda seems like they aren't doing it as well as they used to themselves. With everything added and renewed for Fallout 4, a lot was also stripped down and removed, and something that got hurt by this was the control you had over you character. As many others have mentioned, you are not truly playing your own character anymore. You're controlling a character given to you with a set ways to react and answer. Earlier you were in first person where the character spoke directly to YOU. You knew EXACTLY what you were saying and how you were saying it, and that in turn gave you a lot of control over who you were and what defined you.
For what it's worth, I'm still enjoying the game, so I'm not trying to bash on it completely if that's what it comes across like. It's just that even though I personally like the game, I can still see and agree with this game being flawed beyond acceptable. I feel like Bethesda found a formula that worked and they've gone with it since, deciding to change as little as possible in the fear of displeasing the general public and their fans. It has worked, but the backlash both at launch and after launch is getting bigger for every game they release, and I think this is the game that should tip them over to actually do some major improvements. I am not saying change the formula, I would hate to see them do that, but fix some problems. The world feels alive? Great. Now get the combat to feel alive, get the characters to become interesting and feel alive. Fix the immersion breaking jank (At least get rid of some of it, asking for a 100 % jank-free game is a madmans errand) and create a sound story where the player feels like they have a impact.
I don't expect them to fix everything with their next game, but they need to at least move forward. Better graphics alone isn't enough anymore.
