The director, Jim Isaac, had done effects work on THE FLY, NAKED LUNCH, and EXISTENZ, and Cronenberg was sort of a mentor to him, so that's why he's in this. Isaac directed a few other movies, but unfortunately passed away in 2012.
(Robert A. Silverman, the sleepy man on the videophone, was also a frequent Cronenberg collaborator. Basically this movie is Canadian as fuck)
for what it's worth, I was able to run to my local Vintage Stock and buy a used copy of the Unrated DVD for $6. This and National Treasure were the only movies in this run of Film & 40s I hadn't seen before and this was a damn sight better than NT. Found it hugely entertaining, if not for the intended reasons.
a couple of my favorite movies (AMERICAN GRAFFITI and PUNISHER WAR ZONE) come up in this commentary. Also, a Keanu retrospective after this would rock.
I think my 3 would be Persona 5, Pyre and Super Mario Odyssey. I respect and even occasionally dig Nier: Automata's soundtrack but Cuphead's soundtrack is fucking boring, sorry
