Doods, Agro survived SotC... There really is no precedence for either of the two main characters to die. Although it's a hallmark of Team Ico games to be somewhat bitter-sweet, they are never down right depressing or anything of that nature.

I know how people love to call shit only to dig it out and shout about it if and when it goes down, but this incessant obsession over predictability is a little annoying. I ain't saying the eagle won't die, or the kid for that matter, but I don't expect it as if Ueda was somehow as predictable as Kojima or his ilk...

An interesting read, albeit short.

Highlights include:

"Hito Kui no Oowashi Toriko." That's the official Japanese name, as listed in Famitsu. It literally translates to "The Giant Man-Eating Eagle Toriko."  (the word "Toriko" can be taken to mean prisoner, a baby bird, and a pairing of bird (tori) and cat (neko).)

"Growth and stage puzzles are major elements to the game. There are platforming aspects as well -- you can climb, grab things and crawl."

"Asked if your movement through the stages will be seamless, Uedo said that it's seamless as far as there being no load times as you move about. However, there is an order to the locations that you visit."

"With Last Guardian, however, one area of the stage design involves how you go about getting the eagle to do stuff for you. You can either order it around, or you can have it cooperate with you. For instance, you could make the eagle move by throwing around something that it likes.

Also something to keep in mind as you work through the levels is that eagle's level of intellect isn't all that high (this is what Uedo said -- don't send nasty e-mails to us). It may not move according to your expectations. As an example, you may be able to clear an area if the eagle would just sit still. However, the eagle ends up moving."

"For this third project, Team ICO is making use of some advanced technology. Different from their past titles, they're using real physics. As an example of this, Ueda made note of a scene where the creature eats a barrel. This is not done with motion capture, but with actual physical calculations involving the barrel and the creature's mouth."

hooooooly shit. This is the reason I bought my PS3. Compared to Team ICO everyone else is irrelevant. Nothing touches this.

I'm crying already. ;_;

I support 50Cent Blood on the Sand. Or Saint's Row 2. Something other than a JRPG at least because they are quite similar and it would be easier for the concept to get tired.

The leaderboard should show the actual leaders of the community playing the game.  If everyone can cherry pick who they fight, it doesn't.  People want a feature of a videogame to work, I'm not sure how that warrants sarcastic trolling.
"
Do you really think the people who are topping the rankings are doing it by cherry-picking their opponents? There are probably people who are higher than they should be because they are doing shit like this, but I really doubt the top players are. And can't you by-pass this by hosting your own games? Isn't it just the host who can look at the opponent's stats and such? I usually play Arcade with ranked on, that way I'm the host and there is no hassle of setting up fights. The only time I kick players is when they have one bar of connectivity, because it's usually laggy then.

I'm not against blind select as I thought it was a nice feature in STHD, but it doesn't bother me that it's missing and maybe it will be included in the fabled tournament update... cross ya fingaz.

I wanna go out a limb and say that there is inherently something greater with a smaller team. More work for everybody, sure, but it makes it easier for all involved to see what they are doing and how it affects the over-all picture. In a giant corporation like EA I suspect there are a lot of fluff positions, going by my own experience in similarly sized corporations, and getting rid of the fat and harnessing the core is probably a good idea (especially for the 'current economic situation').

In regards to EA's current policies I really have sky-high expectations for their project with Suda-51, even though I haven't heard much about it (besides the fact that it exists...). :)

Not even just in this economy, but the incessant arms race of hardware and the inane amount of 'from the ground up' development that goes on, shit get's expensive fast! Hopefully as hardware improvements slow down there will be a bigger focus on making good architecture and SDKs. Especially Sony, seeing as how shitty their architecture has been since the PS1 days, and they aren't as accommodating and helpful as they were back then. Hopefully they've shed some arroganse after how they've been doing this generation...

Making a video-game at this point is very expensive, to such a degree that when someone launches a new IP it's a "franchise", of course implying sequels of some sort. Video-games also lend themselves well to sequels because game-play can usually be refined up and down over and over. Takes too much time to develop a game so developers choose to focus on some key aspects and then in subsequent iterations improve and include more.

A sequel is also much more financially safe compared to making a completely new game, so even with diminished returns it's much easier to break even.

Nothing can "prove" that games are art because there is no measuring stick for what is art. There has never been a definition of 'art', so how are we to line shit up in columns? Takahashi said that he had the idea for Katamari Damacy and thought it would be best realized as a video-game. So that's probably the 'artiest' of mainstream games, because the man who made it thought of it as an art piece and used video-games as  the medium for it.

But back to the point of my post; Art isn't defined, anything with depth can be art. stfu stfu stfu. shut up.

The Ranked matches don't work like tournament focused STHD, boohoo. Who cares if they tries to counter-pick your character? There are very few characters that are at a massive disadvantage when fighting one character over another, like a shoto. Yeah, it sucks to be a Guile against a Sagat, but if you're a better player it will shine through. Personally I play Balrog, who is 'counter-picked' with Chun or Sagat, but I don't try to trick those players into going with all-purpose Ken or something just to have an easier time. If I just want to wail on someone I'll play the AI.

Also scrubby Ken's got shit on me, I buffalo their puny fireballs and rape their failed shoruykens rush combos. If I get cocky I like to taunt everytime they do an shoruyken and grab them as they land. ahh, the succulent taste of superiority...
