any word on when? Last I heard was "early 2012" but I can't seem to find any more specific information than that. ;-/

edit:

"thanks for your support for Akai Katana. Hmm... let's say Spring 2012 - can't be more specific at the mo." - https://twitter.com/#!/RisingStarGames

They said SF4 wasn't going to be arcade either, but then surprise loc-tests happened a couple of months later. I really doubt they wouldn't put this out in arcades, but if that were the case it would be a serious blow against SSF4.

You might think that it doesn't affect you since you don't play these people and you don't play the people that play them either, but in truth the Japanese arcade scene has driven every SF game to 'be all it can be'. The resurgence in SF3 popularity wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Japanese tapes making it's way over to America for instance. The hype generation and innovation that the Japanese arcade rats create is very much a part of how the game evolves. If you played Third Strike a lot you might remember how Makoto, after several years of obscurity, suddenly burst out and became one of the best characters in the game. Without the insanely hardcore arcade players we won't have that happen again. I can't stress the importance of the arcade scene as an innovator and hype machine enough, the majority of people who bought SF4 are casual players and will move on leaving the game dead, but the arcade scene might discover something new or release a video of a stupendous match that will get people excited for the game again and there will be a resurgence in players.

Without the arcade we'll have a much smaller player base, but the level of competition will drop like a fucking rock because the best players are the ones we'll be losing. And it's not like Daigo, Mago and all the other "famous" players will move to consoles, nor will Japanese arcades modify consoles into arcade cabs or any other silliness like that. They will just play another arcade game, because they are arcade players before anything else. The reason the arcade scene fosters so many advances in the games is because they got a community in their arcades, it wouldn't transfer to consoles in the same way. People wouldn't just go back to playing ST, TS and the next hot arcade release and not worry about SSF4 at all.

" Out of curiosity, who are you? You seem to know some stuff and it sounds like you frequent other Street Fighter boards. "

I'm no one in particular. I just happen to play SF with some people who are somewhat more particular ;) But at this point there are so many leaks breaking left and right it's just a matter of matching up what I hear to what others have heard elsewhere.  You should read iplaywinner.com like SpecialBuddy recommended, Haunts is on top of this shit.

Also on some other boards (SRK, neogaf, projectcovo) there have been people teasing about  October 1st  and talking about location tests happening state side "sooner than you'd think". Take it with a grain of salt though since that's not something I've heard first hand, so it might be forum shenanigans...

And in regards to DLC/retail, I'd take an educated guess and say retail. There will most likely be a major overhaul of the gameplay (we already know about more ultras, and in the case of Sakura supers, being added, there is talk about a multi-hit absorbing FA and the return of the motherfucking bonus stage!) and there are 10 added characters. There is really no precent for this being DLC, plus Capcom has repeatedly said they weren't going to do character DLC, so.... yeah.

The web is rife with rumor at the moment, it's all pretty much the same stuff too being confirmed left and right.

Some other things I've heard: Every character will have two ultras (for the 3s characters this means all three SAs will be turned into two ultras and one super, meaning you'll have all of 'em at once); Some talk about a multi-hit Focus Attack, potentially  a sort of Ex version maybe; There are some names floating around regarding the names of the new ultras (Breathless for Abel, Yoga Shangri'la for Sim and Siberian Blizzard for Gief); Also one of the new characters is supposed to be a Turkish dude - most likely a grappler as there is a branch of wrestling called turkish wrestling.

Other tidbits include Cody having his knife, Dudley having ten chains and air ultras being in the game.

Most of this information is comming from people with no access to the game proper so we are unable to find out about gameplay systems, all we have are fed us from people most likely working on translation.

I don't think it's a good idea, but not because it's creepy or you might be perceived as a sexual predator waiting to snatch some unsuspecting kid, rather because it has the potential to blur the relationship with your students between you as a teacher and you as a friend and it might affect the level of discipline you hold over them in class which would be very detrimental to your work and their learning.

You, as a teacher, should always distance yourself, like a superior in any other field of work. It's very important to be respected in such a position and befriending your students could easily throw the status quo off balance.

You claimin' Bayonetta fits in with Dante's Inferno under 'God of War inspired action games'? Man, you buggin'. Bayonetta is the sequel to Devil May Cry, the O.G. of all this shit. GoW is nice and all, but the repetition of those games have highlighted how creatively bankrupt that series really is, making it fit nicely under the umbrella of games that basically just used Devil May Cry as a palimpsest.
