@VinceNotVance: you're assuming my best man has the foresight to bring (and then not lose) a camera to the bachelor party which is kinda dubious considering the numbers he's been quoting at me for alcohol he wants to order for it.
I would played my victory music had I not thought it wouldn't immediately make her regret her decision (she's kind if a nerd as well but not even close to that degree)
So this is no way trying to plug (check this post I swear to god no hyperlinks) but I just had to spread the fucking news as I couldn't be more excited right now. I proposed to my girlfriend of many years tonight and she said yes and my half beard has made full with elation(metaphorically of course, i'll sport it at PAX again this year). This in no way any sort of question or blog and I don't give a shit if you comment and tell me how great it is that I'm getting married, I essentially just wanted to scream this from the rooftops and my landlord hates when I do that so I figured letting my GB family know was the next best thing, so to conclude FUCK YES!!!!
The spark is gone because today's culture sadly looks at charm as being kiddie and easy rather than fun. With video games as a medium trying desperately to legitimatize themselves right now, most developers aren't willing to take the risk of making something that looks crazy or childish in order prevent themselves from looking like an non serious company. Back when these things were just a way to make money off of whining children they felt more willing to experiment because in those days who was going to care no one took video games seriously. I really miss those old days and every once and while I see a glimpse of that spirit (the first sly cooper game comes to mind) but whether we'll ever truly recapture that old glory again, who knows?
