I don't really ever post. Been following the site since maybe late 08 and the past month is kinda the first time I've ever not listened to the bombcast. I'll probably stay subbed to support what gb has always meant to me but...yeah. I found the last episode I listened to so abrasive that I've just avoided it since.

I'm just going to assume that anyone reading this is prepared for spoilers.

I just finished it. I enjoyed it but had a lot of problems, too. I'm in the "it's too long" camp, even though I'll admit that I don't think it took me as long as it did most reviewers. I don't know how to see total play time so I can't say exactly how long it took me.

The reason I thought it was too long was because the gameplay itself doesn't really vary that much. You're pretty much always sneaking around to find some switch or terminal or keycard to open up a locked door that you saw at the beginning of the area. The story isn't particularly engaging either. I didn't think there were any super developed characters. A bad thing happened and everyone responded to it. It was cool, but nothing special. By the end of the game I was kind of forcing myself through it so that I could be done and move on to something else. The last few chapters were very intense, though. But by then I had lost most of my respect/fear for the alien because I realized that every time it showed up I could just pop some flames at it.

Also, facehuggers are a cool inclusion but horrible to deal with in this game's systems. You usually only have a second or two to react to hearing one and the game just isn't made for twitch aiming. One in particularly killed me about 5 times in a row. I'll admit it was partly my fault because I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, but the bottom line is that I just was not having fun.

I have to agree with the common sentiment that it was a great ride that went on for too long. Spending so many hours in the same overly-tense loop makes it lose its novelty. It started feeling more and more mechanical as the game went on.

I'm not usually a huge stealth fan, especially first person stealth. Maybe that's why I'm not as high on it as some other people. I just felt like I got spotted too often, and that the game poorly communicated when I was and wasn't visible.

All in all, I'm glad I played it. I love horror and this was a great week for it.

Here's hoping that this goes well.

I love the whole GB crew and I hope that they really will be becoming bigger better and more badass through this change. Also, I'm moving to NYC, too! Woot!

I'm still downloading!

Didn't have time to try the beta but I'm excited to play something with a different "flavor". I haven't played a cowadooty since MW2. I dabbled a little in BF3/BF4. And Mirror's Edge was rad.

I just wanted to say that I fell down the Dark Souls hole after about 5 episodes of Load our Last Souls. I spent about two weeks playing it non-stop, and finally beat it (DLC too). I want to share the opinion that, at first, I was hating the game, but reading advice here and watching Vinny's mistakes made it manageable.

I'm a convert! And I can't wait for Dark Souls 2.

I mostly played with a +15 Uchi, really light armor, and the flippy ring. I beat Gwyn with the Great Scythe, though.
