I never get a chance to say it, but I really do appreciate all the work you and the other mods on here have done over the years. This is one of the most well maintained forums on any website, and it's really thanks to you all.

After using the update in preview for a while, I was most excited about the store. Separating "coming soon" stuff into it's own views is fantastic for actually seeing what's "new" and not having to scroll through a bunch of crap, and there are some other filters in there that are nice to have.

However, navigating the store seems incredibly slow at times, and there appears to be some kind of memory leak where if you do too much, eventually it slows to a crawl and just crashes.

The lack of background music is a bit of a faux pas. I mean, why launch it if it isn't ready? Unless I'm missing something?

You're not missing anything. Almost none of the apps have been updated to support it. I think the podcasting app is the only one.

The wirecutter has an article about what they think are some of the best deals on stuff actually worth buying in case you don't feel like wading through thousands of items.

Strange thing I noticed when I was in Budapest two years ago: soda/mineral water was the default for everything. It was what they'd give you if you ask for water, unless you specify "flat" water. In convenience stores, soda water was sold in clear bottles, while all the flat water had pastel pink caps and labels like you would see on something marketed only to women in the US. I was never able to ask anyone about it -- any international people who might confirm that "flat" water is "for girls" in some places?

That might seem like a lot, but I swear you'll feel 100% more productive once you get it set up how you like it.

I thought we were talking about Forza Horizon there for a bit and I was like "wait, the second one was in Europe... also, post apocalyptic Forza Horizon?"

Nope, it's not that.

Oh weird, I totally forgot Forza Horizon 1 was set in Colorado too. Apparently if you set your game in Colorado it's gotta have "horizon" in the title.

As someone in Colorado, this is cool. Colorado has a lot of diverse scenery and can change drastically in just short distances. I always thought it'd make for a good open world video game location. I also get why some might be bummed it's not somewhere else though. Somehow I started noticing how many games are set in California and was going crazy wondering why they'd keep setting games in the same place. Outside of historical world war games or assassin's creed, you rarely see Europe. It does seem to be getting better though, and devs will keep looking for new ways to distinguish their games.

It's weird. But a delicacy in some parts and I thought I'd share.

Is it really considered a delicacy by anyone? It feels like more of a novelty from what I've experienced. The baseball field in Denver sells them at one stand way in the upper bleachers, and it's more of a fun dumb thing than anything else.

And to anyone wondering, when they're deep fried they just taste like any other greasy fried onion/chicken/whatever. You could probably swap out the meat in some small chicken poppers and not tell the difference. Though, I've seen someone eat them boiled and that just looked disgusting.

But their job to me is just to be entertaining. Is that the difference?

I think they're very good at playing, talking, and being entertaining at the same time, but yeah, it is kind of a large part of their job, right? They should be good at it. People wouldn't be watching quick looks if they were terrible at talking and playing.

@subliminalkitteh:

Drew alluded to this on the Bombcast.

I'd completely forgotten about this thread. Is Giant Bomb still in the top google results for that phrase? I'm not completely comfortable googling it myself :-\
