I've been debating whether to buy mortal kombat or mass effect 2 for some time now. I really don't feel like buying 2 games at that price, i'd rather just focus my attention on one. I played mass effect 1 when I had an xbox before it decided to commit suicide,, and I loved it. I've wanted mass effect 2 ever since they released it, and a ps3 port was the greatest thing i had ever heard, but it's current price point had me waiting off the purchase. Mortal Kombat, however, seems like the type of senslessly wonderful and awesome game everyone should have. I love fighting games, and mortal kombat games. I don't feel like buying both games, so I'm trying to decide between both. any input is appreciated.

As for the controller question, I have 2 sixaxis controllers (save your judgement, I've had them since launch and I didn't feel like buying dualshock 3 when I had perfectly good controllers already), and they're both just crapping out. On one of them, the left analog stick just does not work well, it is not smooth anymore and makes me sad. On the other, I had an incident in a COD match, the controller became broken, I reassembled it, and now the R2 button is very soft, almost as if the spring in it is no good anymore. Now, these may not seem like crippling things, but they're also excuses for me to upgrade to Dualshock 3 controllers, so if anyone knows of the place I can get cheapest (sony brand is preferred, unless you know of something better) Dualshock 3, whoever leads me to such a place will have my undying gratitude.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this overly lengthy post.

don't know about flac, but i have a  Sandisk sansa view 8gig. i use it from time to time. the only time i listen to music is when i'm driving, or on my computer sometimes.
my irrational hate for apple is not so irrational. they refuse to do anything unless you do it the apple way, which really pisses me off. they refuse to let their devices support file formats that they do not directly control (hence the creation of apple lossless format). they let their products which have genuinely wonderful potential become shit because rather than go for the better product, they simply go for mass market appeal and market control. the fact that it took so long for them to even consider offering music DRM free makes my brain go off into another dimension. and don't even get me started on the fact that itunes always has it's dick up your ipod's ass whenever you're trying to do shit, the goddamn thing is fucking impossible to use properly.

but this is not an apple hate thread, and I thank you guys for your suggestions. I was looking into cowon, they look pretty good

I respect the views of those who understand what metacritic is and what it is good for. the rest of you neckbeards apparently are afraid of numbers, looking for full length reviews on metacritic, which you refuse to believe they have (and encourage you to read on the metacritic website), and don't understand the full 100 point scale.

metacritic just brought out the evil that was already in the industry, as far as that goes.

@Dany: well what what do you expect them to do if everyone is using different wonky grading systems? they have to at least TRY to get them on the same page. and a 3/5 is most certainly a 60% in the real world, you just like the idea of the currently inflated review system that everyone enjoys using.

In a context of reviewing a product, a 3/5 is not the same as 60%

Aggregating the scores is fine in a sense but having publishers looking at those scores where people use a simple system of reviewing is bad.

that's with an inflated review system. 50% is mediocre, middle of the road. everyone these days won't put anything below 7 (in an out of 10 rating system) unless it's unplayable.
THIS is where game reviews and people break down for me on the internet. No, sorry. If a site is using a 10 point (Gamestop) and it gives a game a 5, that's giving it an F.  Giantbomb using the 5 star system gives games a 3 star rating for something that's average. Not those 10 point sites, they are grading it out of 10. Read some games that sites score as a 7, they read like they are average games. Then read a 5 out of 10 review....they are calling it dogshit.  That's why Metacritic is kind of fucked....but still inconsequential.
