Weekend time machine

This coming weekend im going to go back in time, to a computer that time has almost forgot.  The computer is the Dragon32 the year is 1982 and the game is Sea quest.  (no game page yet - info submitted)

Sea quest

Adventure fans will be thrilled with this addition to the dragon data ltd hi-res graphic adventure series.  Get your shark repellent and scuba tanks ready!  Much of the action in this unique treasure hunt takes place under the sea and the colour graphics are truly sensational.

Now i have if a computer that is 26 years old is going to work, theoretically it should as the only moving components are in the cassette player which i found in a storage box under the stairs along with :-

  • Power supply
  • Joystick
  • Cassette player
  • An RS232 cable
  • Coax cable

My biggest worry is that the computer unit is not with the rest of the associated paraphernalia, which leads me to believe it will be in the atic which suffers from drastic temperature changes and the possibility of being damp as the cold water tank is located in the atic.

So if everything goes well i shall be posting pictures and maybe video of "colour graphics that are truly sensational"

I.T. police say NO! to Giantbomb

Well just as Giantbomb is getting off the ground the IT Police here at work say “No no no, you can’t look at that”

So due to the fact the Giantbomb has the work bomb in the address it triggers a flag that automatically starts a logging program that logs all my activity on this site.  Just to access the site i need to go various security prompts put in place by my employers to stop people inadvertently accessing site that are inappropriate in the work-place.
Well Giantbomb manages to come under :-

Firearms, explosives, terrorism, Social networking

Now ive just been clicking the “Yes, i want to access this site” button and haven’t thought anything about it, after all its just a computer game website.

Well this morning the happy people in the IT department sent me an email questioning my activity on this website.
So unless the IT police agree that the site is inappropriately categorised my activity on Giantbomb will be limited to my own time outside of work, which totally negates the point of having internet access in work.

Imagine coming to work for the sole purpose of working.
