I wrote this on another forum in between matches so it's kind of jumbled but whatevs:
Everyone is playing TDM. I can't get into a CTF or Co-op game. Weak.
The game has perks. Two slots.
Slot 1: Increase pistol blindfire, increase long gun blindfire, Better accuracy pistol or better accuracy long gun.
Slot 2: Carry more ammo, More ammo from each pick up or more ammo in each clip.
Five characters to choose from on each side.
Cash (XP) is earned in this game. $500 for each kill. Medals are also earned. So far I got ones for a melee kill a double kill and a 5 kill streak. I'm pretty sure they earn you cash as well. I played four rounds and I'm at level 6. I'm not sure what the cap is.
The game looks and plays exactly like it should. The guns have pretty strong kick back so it makes lining up shots a bit tricky, once the trigger is pulled. That's cool. Cover is great. Jumping in open spaces looks hilarious. There's no walking animation yet, you run super slow-mo. You can carry two guns, a heavy and a light and two grenades, you start with one. There's no radar. A decent amount of people are actually using head sets and coordinating.
The game is fun.
Just got into a co-op match after 10 minutes of waiting. This will be a lot of fun on the hardest difficulty with skilled team mates. Enemies come from all angles so you're forced to change cover and you have to rely on your team... at least you'll have to on the harder difficulty levels.
Both of my team mates died, you can revive them. There are obstacles that force you to work together, I don't want to give anything away. There's also a cool moment, that I'm pretty sure is scripted (if not, even cooler!), that forces two of the players to... well, you'll see. It was a cool moment.
When the level ended all three of us gave a big "UUUGHHHHHHH COME ON"!!! We wanted to play what was coming. Both of the other guys are psyched for the full game. Me too.
Edit 2: There's a 'Cinema' option that lets you watch recorded games. Not available for the beta. Parties are supported, 3 people for co-op, 5 for competitive.
Edit 3: Oh yeah, medals can also be earned in co-op. Treasures are in co-op. Your rank is shared between co-op and competitive, not split.
Edit 4: Finally got into a CTF match. People really don't seem to understand how CTF works. They where all playing like it was TDM. The flag is in the form of treasure and you have to get it back to your chest. Each team has a chest in their spawn point on either side of the map. The treasure is in the center of the map. First to 3 wins. Our team won, 3-0. I got 2 of our points and the most kills, 10 kills 3 deaths. It was fun.
Edit 5: Played some more TDM and CTF. You don't have to switch to grenades, you throw them with L2 anytime. You can hold down L2 to see where they'll land or just tap it a throw it in the direction you're looking. You can also throw the flag with L2 and you need to at times. It's cool. It takes two melee hits to kill a player. If you sneak up behind them you can get a stealth kill, MGS style.
Playing with skilled players in TDM is great. It's not just a run and gun match like most other games. Cover and teamwork really comes into play. In a focused 1-on-1 battle reloading, as quick as it is, can put you at a pretty big disadvantage. It can be pretty nerve racking. I likes. A lot.
Oh yeah, another medal is earned when two players kill each other at the same time.
Not much else can be said. I want this game now.
