Cybexx: Best of 2009

  • My most anticipated game of the year far surpassed my expectations. Especially in terms of its presentation, this game shames every other game in terms of cinematic quality and to borrow a term from Bioware, the "Digital Actors" are unparalleled.

  • It is nice when a game surprises you with its quality, not since Escape from Butcher Bay has a licensed game been so good. And I got this for $40 in Canada, what a steal!

  • I thought this was going to be a nice holdover till Mass Effect 2, now I'm wondering if Mass Effect 2 can match this game. And I still have at least 60 hours to go, sweet!

  • Loved Sucker Punch's Sly games, this is an evolution of those games going truly open world. Climbing buildings, grinding electrical wires and hovering combine to make traversing the city so much fun. Occasional geometry problems, especially in the final area can be overlooked with how much fun this game is. The battles are excellent chaos.

  • Finished it in time for the holidays! Unfortunately seems impossible to play as a stealth game, but played as an action game it is fairly solid. Mission design and overall structure are improved so much from the last game. Plot twists were neat, but yet again I am left really wanting a game where you parkour through the near future as Desmond, and parallel that experience with an ancestor in the past. They just teased that in this one.

  • Not so much a Survival Horror game as a Adventure game. Best looking game on Wii, it makes great use of the motion controls, even if the puzzles are dead simple. Need to play through it again to see how much the experience can change. The "survival" sequences can be annoying and predictable, but there are some cool moments that use them.

  • The game I thought would never happen, did happen! The 2nd episode is a bit weak and the 3rd lags a bit, but overall the entire season combines to great effect. The ending is especially great and almost feels like an ending appropriate for the entire series. However, it looks like Tales of Monkey Island was very successful, so a 2nd season seems likely and I am very very much looking forward to that.

  • This is how downloadable games should be done. Borrowing heavily from the Metroid series, Shadow Complex creates a high-budget retail experience for a great value and hunting down every question mark on the map is addicting.

  • For a Popcap game, this game sure seems packed with so much content. The main game is fun and fulfilling, a nice twist on the Tower Defense formula. And then there are a ton of mini-games, many of which seem like they could be full games in the casual game market.

  • Pure Platforming Joy! And the ending was amazing, very much looking forward to Twisted Pixel's next creation.

  • Crazy but fun Single Player, not as solid overall as CoD4. Multiplayer is still fun, Spec Ops is really fun.

  • Only just finished the Second Dungeon, but so far this is a pretty amazing DS game.

  • Being a dictator of a banana republic has never been so much fun!

  • I want to make a special mention of Borderlands; I would probably rate it higher if I had played more of it at this point. Unfortunately it came out when I was really busy with work, so I hope to spend much more time with it. What I played so far is really fun though, totally fixes the problems where Hellgate: London went wrong in the Diablo Shooter space.
