Cybexx: E3 2011 Most Anticipated Games

List items

  • I had huge expectations for Uncharted 2 but Naughty Dog managed to blow past those expectations in an astounding fashion. So I have similarly lofty expectations for this game and though I'm not expecting to be quite as blown away, I did just spent $1300 on a 3DTV with the near sole purpose of playing this in 3D, so its a bit of an understatement when I say I'm expecting a lot.

  • Irrational appears to be creating exactly the Bioshock sequel I want. Everything is completely new but there is enough of the familiar to know this will retain the aspects of Bioshock I really liked.

  • I didn't think I would be quite as excited for this game as I am now after watching the trailer and reading some of the E3 preview coverage. The art direction is gorgeous in a way that will mask the Wii's meager power quite well and it sounds like the Motion Plus sword controls are going to allow for some pretty cool gameplay opportunities in fights, the likes of which the series has never seen. From the Miyamoto roundtable it sounds like the overall structure of the game is getting a bit of a shake up. Even if that doesn't result in as big of a change as people are hoping I think the minute to minute gameplay will be great.

  • It looks like they are bringing back all your old team members from the previous two games which is what I was hoping they were going to do but never imaged they would actually try to pull it off. I also think the Kinect voice controls seem pretty cool and I will probably play the game that way.

  • Like most people I loved the first game and I've kind of been on a bit of a media blackout for this one. But what I have seen looks wonderful.

  • The last day of GB's coverage has me a little depressed about this game, but I'm still holding out hope.

  • The first new Mario game to be released on the same year as a new Nintendo system since 1996 with Mario 64. It would have been nice to have this at launch but at least we are not waiting two years. I'm not sure what I think about the seemingly heavy focus on side-scroller action as I was hoping this would be closer to Mario Galaxy but I guess this is a nice happy medium between the Galaxy series and the New Super Mario Bros series.

  • I'm a bit of a sucker for a Tomb Raider game. The original game and its fantastic sequel created the genre of the 3D action adventure game that happens to be my favorite genre. The Tomb Raider franchise has had a bit of trouble keeping up with the Prince of Persia and Uncharted franchises but I did enjoy Crystal Dynamic's trio of games a fair bit. This reboot seems to be taking Lara in the exact direction she needs to stay revelvant and if it looks this good now I think it is going to be something pretty amazing in Fall 2012.

  • At 250 dollars there is no way I am not buying a Vita and this is my most anticipated game for it. Hopefully this game makes launch because that is the kind of launch game the Vita needs. That and it is really sweet to get two Uncharted games in one year.

  • You can't deny this is one great looking 2D game. I kind of lost it when you had to platform across Tetris blocks falling into lava while the gameboy Tetris theme played.

  • Like many people I played a lot of Oblivion. I'm a little wary about how janky this game will prove to be in the long run and how much better will the combat actually be, but from what I've seen this looks like a game I am going to sink a lot of time into.

  • Unlike a lot of X-Com fans I am a lot more open to new interpretations of the franchise. The E3 coverage of the game makes it sound basically like a combination of the original X-Com's base development / research stuff and Brothers in Arms, which sounds pretty awesome to me.

  • Graphically this game looks delectable. So I'm a whore for 2D and cell shaded graphics.

  • This game looks amazing, that has been well established, and I am going to play it on PC. They didn't necessarily show the best section of gameplay they could have during the EA press conference but I'm still pretty psyched to play it. DICE is one of the most solid developers out there and I'm eager to find out more about the multiplayer and exactly how destructible the environments are.

  • On this list almost purely because of the great, intelligent and entertaining conversations the director and lead programmer were having on Tuesday night's bombcast. I'm sure the game will be pretty sweet too.

  • A very nice surprise at the Ubisoft conference. Lots of fun looking contextual kills and a good looking Killzone 2 style 1st person cover system. The antagonist is also interesting enough to hope for more from the story of this game.
