PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and PC games I like

So, I'm trying to get into reviewing more games, and having started with WET and gotten some responses from the community, it made me aware of the fact that my opinion on games won't mean much if people can't relate to what other stuff I like. To be able to understand why I like a game you need to know what games I've liked in the past. It's why I read Giant Bomb reviews and take their info on board, I've been reading reviews by guys like Jeff for years, and so now have an understanding on things about games that we have in common, and so I can take more from his reviews. If that makes anysense.

In short, so you can get a better understanding of games I'll review, here's a list of games I like.

List items

  • PS3 -

    Why I like it:

The story, the cutscenes and the characters. The gameplay itself was very God of War lite to me, but Nariko and Kai were awesome.

  • PS3 -

    Why I like it:

Big Metal Gear fan, so liking this was a given, but that fact it let me go stealth OR run and gun made it a real stand out. I also loved the story and cutscenes to death, but they did seem to drag out some stuff.

  • PS3 -

    Why I like it:

    Awesome level creator and customisation.

  • PS3 -

    Why I like it:

Amazing art style, great characters especially for a unit focused RPG and just a wonderfully unique game to play.

  • PS3 -

    Why I like it:

I was a massive fan of the first Uncharted, and the second just did everything better. The game plays great and fluidly, always having you doing something awesome, and the story pushes you along, and it kept me engaged the whole time. All the characters were belieable and filled out too, and Nathan Drake is quite possibly my favourite character of all time. If I'm honest, Uncharted 2 may well be my favourite game of all time just because of how well it combines so many things I love from great characters, to that Indiana Jones sense of adventure and thrills.

  • Wii -

    Why I like it:

I know it's not technically a Wii game, but it IS the best version of RE4, combining the crisp look of the Gamecube version with the added content of the PS2 version. It also stands to date as my personal favouite use of the Wii's controls in a traditional style of game.

  • Wii -

    Why I like it:

Nintendo at it's best, doing what they do better than anyone.

  • Wii -

    Why I like it:

Travis Touchdown is awesome. Doesn't hurt that I like running through tonnes of enemies and hacking them to death. Shame about the open world stuff, but with a game oozing this much personality, I'll let it slide.

  • Wii -

    Why I like it:

Washington: Are you ever gonna tell me what that ****ing G stands for ?

    Agent G: No

Overkill made me laugh, and that's always a winner. Add to the mix a solid light gun shooter and a good use of style and I'm game.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Big fan of Fighters since Street Fighter 2 on my SNES. Since my Saturn days Dead or Alive has always offered a solid fighting game that's not taken too much to become good at, which is great. It also has some really fun characters. Good characters always draw me in.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

I get stick for this, but I still prefer the Rumble Roses wrestling engine over the current Smackdown vs Raw games. There's also a load of awesome female characters, which I'm big enough to admit I love too.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

A whole mall full of Zombies to kill and loads of ways to kill them ? Yes Please.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Very mediocre gameplay, but look at Alicia. She's a witch with a broomstick thats also a Machine Gun. She also throws Roses that summon spike traps and calls down huge bolts of lightning to blow stuff up. A victory for a charcter saving a game.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

I was drawn in by the comic art style, and I still like to go back and doodle the characters from the game. It's also great fun to play in local co-op. Shame it lacked the online features later added to the PS3 version, but the PS3 version also had all the hardest and best moments from the Xbox 360 game taken out, and thats why I prefer the 360 version.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

As with Uncharted 2, I love Indiana Jones inspired games. Add Lara Croft to the mix and you're going to get my attention, and so the Tomb Raider franchise has since the first game. Anniversary's reimagining of the first game brought a game I loved up to date in a lot of great ways, and St Francis Folly is still one of my favourite levels in any video game.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

I was never that big a Halo fan until the Halo 3 hype train started. I gave the series a shot and loved the colourful universe and the solid gameplay. Halo 3 is here over ODST purely because it got me into a series, and it was my first real experience of online gaming.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

A solid mix of action and rpg, a solid story, and Commander Shepard.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Great characters and seriously over the top action. Could of used more DMC3 style badass Dante and less Nero being all emo, but I still like Nero, so he obviously grew on me.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

I like blowing stuff up, and Mattias and Jen were awesome to play as.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Big fan of the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors games because of how much they let you feel like a badass cutting through armies. WO2 combined all the characters from the games into one, so I could hack and slash with whoever I wanted.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Big open sandbox crime game with a great sense of humour. Solid shooting and driving as well as an entertaining assortment of characters are why I prefer this over GTA4.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

    Gun's with Chainsaws.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

The Prince and Elika are two of my favourite charactes this generation of games. Save for Nathan Drake, this games Prince would be my favourite character. Not as great as Sands of Time, but still awesome.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

I'm not much into horror, but FEAR 2 was a game that just seemed to hold onto my attention. Alma was creepy as all hell too. Not the greatest shooter or best story, but FEAR 2 seemed to be more than the sum of its parts.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Another one I get stick for, but my love of this series if the fault of one Brad Shoemaker showing one of the PS2 games off on an episode of On The Spot. It's cheesy fun and repetative, but I love carving my way through enemies, be they from Three Kingdoms China, a demon dimenson or hordes of zombies.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

The Fast and The Furious movies are something of a guilty pleasure of mine, so the chance to essentially play through one made me giddy. I know it's not a great game, but the insane vehicle melee combat makes me smile everytime.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

Rubi Malone, an awesome soundtrack and a sense of style that I love, combined with fun gunplay.

  • Xbox 360 -

    Why I like it:

The best combination of shooting and rpg elements, and what I'd hoped Fallout 3 would play like. Also, it game me a SMG that had bullets that split into 7 and set everything they hit on fire.

  • PC -

    Why I like it:

I'm not a big PC gamer, I prefer controllers, but Left 4 Dead I had to get on PC after seeing some of the great mods out there.

  • PC -

    Why I like it:

Again, not a big PC gamer, but I love the C&C games, which is weird as I don't usually like RTS games. The Red Alert games stand above for their charactes and sense of just being nuts enough. Red Alert 3 lets you launch bears from cannons. Paratropper Bears. Yeah, I thought that was awesome too.
