Probably my favorite thing about the new redesign is the updated artwork/logos for the site’s major shows. However, looking at them alongside things like the Mass Alex art, there’s a stylistic inconsistency that I don’t think works; having the slick, modern logos next to cheesy, amateurish Photoshop work kind of kills the purpose of the former.

Thing is, I know a lot of people love the goofy, unprofessional nature of Giant Bomb’s aesthetic, and I respect that. For me personally, however, I’d love to see new show art for all of the site’s features, so that everything looks more consistent and classy when browsing the icons.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see all the old art replaced with new stuff, or do you think that goes against the site’s whole vibe?

I like the new design overall, but I think the way the home page is laid out looks really blah. When you load up the page initially, your whole screen is basically taken up by a video thumbnail, and you only see about 30% of the icons directly below it. I think it just looks kind of poor that way, and it feels like a bad use of space. If the icons for the new videos were moved up so that they fit nicely onto the screen without having to scroll down, I think it would look and function way better.

@nevergameover: I don’t think either of these is an especially compelling case for the Switch having a strong library. Into the Breach is incredible, but it also came out months ago on PC. A lot of people seem to like Hollow Knight, but response to it in general among players seems pretty polarized.

@frytup: It’s a game set in space and Alex is playing it. Anyone who watches two seconds of the video(or even looks at the thumbnail) will see that it’s Mass Effect. I would argue that “Alexy Quest” is a more descriptive title because it evokes sci-fi space imagery in my mind, whereas “Mass Alex” tells me nothing and doesn’t sound good.

@creme: I haven’t seen the movie, but how can Elton John ever be a negative?

Did anyone else love that whole scene where Super Spesh was acting as your lawyer? He’s an awesome character and that scene is hilarious, but I think the way it sets up your expectations for a great escape only to have him get unceremoniously shot in the head from off screen is so shocking and brilliant. That death really felt like it came straight out of a Tarantino or Scorsese film.

@ajamafalous: That sounds great. I saw La Dispute live a few years ago with Pianos Become the Teeth and Balance & Composure, and all of them were amazing.

Also, Pinegrove is incredible live.

I fell off of it very quickly because I found the gameplay really boring. I was surprised by how mediocre it seemed to me after hearing so much praise for it. It didn't help that I kind of found the characters insufferable.

I think the main issue for me was that nothing about the gameplay felt smooth or satisfying. I didn't enjoy the combat or puzzle-solving, and the level design just didn't seem interesting to me.

@castiel: I do feel like there's a place for a new MediEvil game in the current market. I think we're all feeling a bit fatigued with gritty over-the-shoulder games about sad white people, so a quirky gothic adventure game would really stand out even to people with no knowledge of the series.

That's not to say I think it's going to happen, but I do think MediEvil's concept has aged a lot better than other games from that period.
