Finally finished this game three years late and decided to come back to re-read this review, yep. I enjoyed my time with it for sure, but you can't deny that it's messy product.
Kinda sad that RE7 seems to be totally different though, there was nothing wrong with the formula, just the execution.
My first experience with a Playstation was with Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7, and after playing through those I decided to try out some other popular Sony games to fill out my collection.. boy did Crash and Spyro seem lame in comparison (unfair, I know).
At that point I had always completed every game I owned, but Spyro was the game that broke that pattern for me. I wonder if it would be worth giving another shot, but its time is probably long passed.
Great Demo Derby! Although it seems like to me that the crew don't always remember specific things from past demo derbies. I was hoping Dan was gonna reference the first ever Demo Derby because the same Crash 3 Demo and the Tomb Raider III demo were on that Pizza Hut Demo Disc, but its been about 2 years since then and it would be unlikely for Dan an Drew to remember or even care.
For a brief second I had wondered if I was accidentally watching an old Demo Derby there.
What a weird thing. I think their biggest mistake was introducing this as SMT + Fire Emblem without actually elaborating on what that meant since it clearly didn't read as "Pop Idol RPG".
That said, this looks totally fine. I'm glad that it manages to be its own thing over just being an SMT and Fire Emblem mashup, which honestly didn't sound particularly interesting to me in the first place.
That Sonic vs Goku video.. I feel like I've seen that before.. like ten years ago.. and I had the same exact reaction to finding out how long it was. Oh god what nightmares.
