Way of the Samurai looks like it'd be pretty fantastic with more of a budget, or maybe that would ruin it. Either way, it's on my wishlist now for some reason.
This just makes me want a samurai game from the Persona team though.
That's a really tough question. I'm pretty darn selective about what I buy, and if I end up disliking a game it's usually for a pretty obvious reason.
I suppose Skyrim fits the build for me. I loved that they fixed the leveling system, I loved the new winter setting, I loved all the little refinements they made, but it just couldn't hold my attention for long at all. It might be fatigue after all the Oblivion I played, but I didn't think I would drop Skyrim so quickly.
Very glad to hear from Samantha as usual. I've always tried to be understanding and knowledgeable about transgender issues, but I never felt like I truly comprehended what it meant to be transgender until I heard Samantha go into details. There's so few that are willing or able to speak publicly about it (understandably).
FFT on PSP is so tragic. Just like chrono trigger on PS1, I can't believe Square released those remakes in that state. They function, but that slowdown is crippling.
The iOS version of FFT fixes it, but that was such a buggy, un-user friendly experience in every other way.
@zeik: True! I'm just annoyed at Atlus's continued gall for old school references while they pool these huge resources into spinoffs and crossovers instead of a modern SMT game to succeed Nocturne (I loved SMT4 but c'mon now).
We've joked about the Persona bandwagon for nearly half a decade now, I know it's a tired conversation but I just can't help it when I see those cute little icons jumping for joy like they're saying in their tiny voices, "hey we haven't forgotten!".
That said I'll be on the lookout for weird easter eggs in P5 and SMTxFE.
Well it's not that surprising. SMT isn't their flagship series anymore, it's Persona. That's where all the money and the majority of their fanbase is these days, so that's where their resources are going to go. To be honest, we should probably be happy that SMT4 was as old-school as it was, they totally could have decided they were done with that style of game.
That being said, I am holding out hope that after P5 they'll be able to use those monster assets and core game engine to justify making an actual SMT style game on a console. If not SMT5 then a cool spin-off like DDS. (ie, something radically different than Persona.) People complained regularly about all the reused assets in the PS2 games (myself included) but if that's what it takes to get more console MegaTen games this gen I am 100% in support.
Whenever I see trailers of P5, I can't help but think how awesome a new Raidou or some oddball SMT spinoff would be in that style. I hope they've got something like that planned, their PS2 output was incredible.
