@csl316: I've been guiding myself with "If I need to take notes, it's too much information." In an effort to summarize without being a replacement, I'll mention what they talk about, but not too many specific details of the conversation. I think that's a fair balance.
How does saying "Later, there's a sniper section" help anybody unless you've seen the Quick Look?
For that specifically, my thinking was that people might want to watch Jeff, who doesn't like sniping, play a sniper section. Also, I thought the thing about them turning around was a funny mechanic and wanted to comment on it myself.
@bisonhero: Besides meme popularity being kind of impossible to predict, I feel like so few Quick Looks provide running jokes that most videos would just have 0s, making the rating useless most of the time. I will continue mentioning quotes or events that might be referenced later so that people who encounter them elsewhere have some understanding of where they came from, but rating the videos' memeworthiness with a number seems less than useful.
@corevi: @pyrodactyl: I will be inserting jokes that only people who have watched the videos will get into these things made specifically for people who haven't watched the videos.
@ramone: I've told myself from the start that these aren't going to be reviews of the videos and I'm not even sure what criteria I would use to judge whether they are worth anybody else's time, but more meta-information is always helpful. Thanks for the feedback!
@humanity: I just remembered that the site actually has a list feature, so I'll see how I can tailor a list of that sort for a more convenient archiving of these summaries. However, opinions on Giant Bomb have always been a nebulous thing, almost by design. Jeff has often said that to get the full picture of what any of the staff think of a game, you have to view multiple forms of content. I don't want to put too much of my own readings into these, so I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to divine an absolute opinion.
This almost seems like too much thought put into something that so far amounts to three paragraphs, but I guess it's good to look to the future and settle some conventions. Also, thanks for the feedback! This all helps a lot.
@humanity: This is a reverse-chronological list of Quick Looks and this is a reverse-chronological list of my blog posts. Sincere question: What more do you need? I guess I could put up a list of links to these at the end of the year, is that what you're asking for?
Cataloguing games by the staff's respective Quick Look impressions seems like an interesting idea, but is lacking without weighting for time spent with the game (the opinion of someone who watches someone else play for twenty minutes shouldn't have the same impact as the opinion of someone who reviewed the game) or taking into account how their opinions change over time.
@thenine: It's a really weird idea, but someone commented on the latest Bombcast saying they wished the staff talked about Quick Looks more often because they didn't have time to watch many, so I'm trying this out as an alternative for people like that. QL Crew is a really good site for filtering videos elsewise, and even offers a list of highlights from live shows to look through.
