Honestly, with how absurdly forgiving this game is towards the XCorps, I like Dan's haphazard playstyle, it's more entertaining than the super-cautious play that guarantees success. Especially fun are Vinny's reactions when Dan ignores his advice.
I mean that really depends on what your thing is. For someone that has never played a Bethesda game before I think Skyrim is probably the most polished and well made one of those. It's ultimately a really shallow game with a bad story, but it's excellent at creating the illusion of progression and it's a lot more accessible to jump into for newcomers than say just jumping into the middle of the Yakuza games, which are not welcoming in either systems or story for new players.
I was pretty disappointed with Skyrim in the end because once you suddenly have this realization of whats going on behind the curtain the game loses a ton of charm and turns into this mechanical set of interactions. That said for a typical Joe Schmoe it's probably a better recommend over Yakuza which has a heartfelt story but requires time and dedication to get into.
I went ahead and wrote way too much about this completely matter of opinion topic.
Good post. I'm not a fan of Skyrim but I don't often come across nuanced criticism, so I appreciate these thoughts. I agree that most people would find it easier to get into than Y0.
@spacebacon: I agree, the learning dynamic over this series has been cool. Vinny's improved a lot these past few episodes, if they're both on good form next time we should see good progress!
