As for Jeff's mention of DirectX12 on the XBone, that's not going to do much for performance. The consoles have low-level APIs for graphics already. It probably makes it easier to port between console/desktop/mobile apps, which plays into Microsoft's strategy, not much else.
Historically these low-level graphics APIs, in conjunction with fast memory busses, were what gave consoles the real edge over "PCs". The bandwidth race was lost ages ago, and with DirectX12 and Vulkan coming to PCs next year, the graphics API lead will finally go away too.
While Austin's general point holds, nVidias NVLink interconnect is for actual supercomputers and unlikely to find its way to consumer products in the near term.
But wouldn't half the frame rate be more cinematic and therefore better? People on the internets said so. 60fps looks so fake, not at all cinematic. Is there an option to play at 24hz at least for that true cinematic feel?
