@habster3: You know what? There's no shame in that. Hell, I guess my real confession would be that I play single-player games as dirty as possible. Playing Pokémon Blue? I'll grab a Mew on Nugget Bridge, and I'll surf on Cinnabar Coast. Playing Final Fantasy VI? I'll use the Vanish/Doom glitch to kill near enough every boss. Playing Vice City? I'll bring a Tank to a race.

It's great. I won't generally outright cheat, but anything else is fair game.

@bartok: Day One patches are a great thing, on the whole. As much as it's been abused, it lets the people working on the game actually continue to do something instead of just sitting there twiddling their thumbs.

Exploit is called HENkaku, works on current firmware (3.60)

Can't be used for piracy as of yet, but the developer has suggested that pirating PSP games would not be especially difficult.

@belegorm: The last VinnyVania was fantastic, honestly. They shat on the game, but not without good reason.

That's not vinny, it's just someone with a vinny flair.

@artie: It's much, much cheaper on eBay. Check that.

Wary of bootlegs, though: Finding an actual copy instead of a fake one can be exceedingly difficult, and bootleg carts aren't known for their reliability.

@bisonhero: I strongly disagree that Pokémon's combat is shallow. There's a ton of stats to deal with, EV's ensure that Pokémon have different ways they can be built, Natures can also change a lot about Pokémon, the wide-range of Pokémon available leads to many different strategies. Then add in hold items, STAB moves, dual-typing and it can honestly be daunting.

Spend an hour browsing Bulbapedia, is what I'm saying. It's kind of crazy.

I'd probably wait until Sun & Moon. X & Y and ORAS almost feel like when a sports game comes to a new generation and has to gut out most of the features just to polish up the core, which is very well polished at this point.

Also, I would just like to point out that Pokémon is startlingly complex, even if the games themselves don't do a great job of highlighting that.

I think I've said that they should do exactly what Sonic Mania is doing multiple times.

Take the retro engine, and make a whole new game out of it. (Seriously, the mobile versions of 1, 2 and CD are by far and away the best versions of those games.)
