If Abby has the correct opinion on the flaming pile of dog shit that is MGS then that's just another reason to consider her the beast damn thing to happen to this website since Benedict Walker abandoned us.
@rekatil: For sure I agree this episode was the Vinny Abby show, I was talking more generally as to why I think BB and Vinnyvania are so different despite a similar premise.
I'm happy for the general conversation stuff being contained to one video series rather than leaking into everything as it used to do with Dan.
I think the difference between this and Vinnyvania is Dan vs Austin. Austin was willing and able to engage in what was happening on screen offering advice, commenting on what he liked/hated, being part of making up funny lore for the nonsense, and commiserating about the bullshit. Dan has no real interest in what's happening so talks about things he is interested in instead and the game gets forgotten.
I much prefer the Austin era even though it had it's fair share of repetitiveness, how many times can they comment on how good the music is or call a part bullshit? But some people like Dans general conversation stuff and I'm glad there's a place for it.
@mrfluke: And have another series degenerate into "Dan asks basic life advice while a video game goes on in the background I guess" except with a plot heavy game in a foreign language. I look forward to noone knowing what on earth is happening because Dan decided he really needed to know how you defrost pipes.
Surely the fun parts of Star Trek are the sci-fi concepts, the character interactions, and the space politics. Choosing to focus on the shallow action elements of the show feels like it'll always end up a shallow game.
Everyone's missing the most important part, when Abby went to put the fuse in in RE7 and didn't get lost! A member of Giant Bomb that has a memory and wouldn't get lost in areas the size of a small closet? Be still my beating heart.
