Well, in the short term its nice that Amy will be working on the Star Wars project. But, I think the real win in this is that she may be on-board for any potential Dead Space resurgence. That franchise could really use her services.
@rockyraccoon37: I'm pretty sure when it comes to domestic violence, at least to some Canadian study, that its closer to 50/50. Now, granted, most physical violence perpetuated by a woman is typically not going to be that severe(men are more likely to cause far more damage). But, I don't think its anything remotely cut/dry.
The idea that rape is difficult to prosecute mainly because of "rape culture" is intellectually dishonest and silly.
The reason why rape is difficult to prosecute is the nature of the crime and a court system that favors the innocent with reasonable doubt.
Most rape evidence depreciates quickly. Even more so if a woman is told to "take her time" getting to authorties(which has to be the worst advice I can think of).
So most rape cases devolve into "he said she said" scenarios. The only way your going to increase rape convictions is to give an inordinate amount of power to the accuser despite the potential lack of evidence(which is becoming more the trend). Thats an extremely problematic proposition considering the precedent of our court systems.
Oh btw, I bet if you ask any man who was convicted of a violent rape, "hey, did you know rape was wrong?" They probably overwhelmingly say "yes."
@dylangw: Yeah but they will say thats "not what we mean." or "your misrepresenting us." all the while nudging for self imposed censorship on certain games.
Its just two faced bullshit which I can't respect on any level.
My position is simple: Add more to the industry, and praise those who take those chances. Don't demand everything to change through subtraction.
I didn't play dragon age 2, so I can't comment. As far as Bioware and sexual diversity: I think it was handled fairly well in ME3 with one glaring exception. I thought turning Kaiden bi-sexual felt kinda forced and silly. I think the window to introduce that needed to be established in ME1(it wasn't). So, it felt awkward and strange to pigeon hole it in ME3. Other than that, I don't really have any complaints.
@sacui: Recently on his Tumblr, Gerstmann said that the upcoming games he is most looking forward to haven't even been announced yet. So, I'm pretty excited about potential next gen titles that will be revealed at E3.
It seems to be a strange new trend. We are getting more situations like Arkham Knight where a game has been in deep development until its finally announced. The announcement time vs the release is becoming much shorter.
@scarycrayons: You shut up now with all your contextualizing and logical reasoning. Its obvious that the backlash to Anita is simply all based around misogyny. Next time you should make gross generalizations and intellectually lazy accusations. Your veering too far off the narrative....
When the journalists start to bother me is when they say Gears of War should be more like Gone Home, instead of saying there should be more games like Gone Home. Certainly try to expand the audience, but don't do it at the expense of the previous one.
