I don't understand the obsession with "progression" in multiplayer shooters. Sure it's nice to have a bar fill up and hear a level-up chime every now and then, but I don't go to multiplayer shooters for that. I enjoy them for the moment-to-moment gameplay, for the atmosphere, for the camaraderie with friends.
I still play Titanfall because it plays great, ditto for Halo and its generally rock-solid multiplayer fundamentals. Left 4 Dead and Gears 3 horde mode still get my time because they both nail atmosphere and are enormous fun with friends. From my time with the beta I can tell that Battlefront will be the same for me.
How I did I miss this amazing thing?!? Holy shit, one of the best recent GB videos on the site. Highly recommend watching it with the chat archived here
@fram:It's from the track "Vigil" that's found on in the first Mass Effect soundtrack. Normally it's pretty short but there's an extended version on youtube. Seriously one of the best sci-fi tracks out there period in my eyes ears.
No, eyes is right. I get tears every time.
It effortlessly evokes a sense of discovery, of the unknown. There's an alien quality to it but no menace, just hope. It's an amazing piece of music and one of the primary reasons I fell in love with Mass Effect.
