Yeah, I'd love to get the old Dissidias. Most of the other games I care about (Birth By Sleep, for instance) have been re-released in since way. If I hadn't just played through Crisis Core last year I'd say that, and War of the Lions is basically unplayable for me unless the get rid of the slowdown (which requires work I DOUBT they'd do). Can't say I'm super familiar with a lot of PSP exclusives outside that.

So I'm almost near the end and I gotta say, I fucking love this game. It feels SO GOOD to go around crushing dudes, the characters and story are weirdly charming and I think by the end actually really work.

While it doesn't go AS big, I think there's a sort of Asura's Wrath-ness to it that works in a lot of the same ways. Like, it's an Action RPG that exists in the similar space to AW, Doom 2016, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence. It also DOES start getting hard (or in just bad/stubborn) as you go. Took me about and hour to do Tiamat on hard, which is kinda what I wanted.

@atheistpreacher: The metal griffon/gargoyle is now at the end of the secondary mission you can do in the Chaos shrine. It's still kinda tough, especially since they throw it in a room with a bunch of bombs now.

I'm gonna "finish" it on normal and then go back through stuff on hard and see how I fare with that.

It's hard to call any of story/cutscenes objectively "good" but I find them weirdly charming. I'm completely unironically hyped for this still.

@theonewhoplays: There's a "performance mode" that seems to make everything run fine? I'm admittedly not super sensitive to framerate stuff though.

I'm loving the hell out of this game so far. The opening of it is paced SUPER weird story wise but it's damn satisfying to play. It also seems like it might be easier from the previous demos? I beat the first boss on the second try, but I'm not sure if that's just me getting better.

As someone who generally doesn't like these games, I can say that anytime I raise a critique of them in a public way someone comes out of the woodwork to explain how I "just don't get it". If I have one more person tell me that these games are "about grit," as though it's a moral failing on my part for not liking them, I'm gonna lose it. Sorry, but that's the community. The git gud thing didn't come from nowhere. It came from the loudest, most obnoxious part of the community never shutting up.

This has been my experience as well. People that really like the souls games treat them as some sort of ideal as to what video games SHOULD be, and act like if you don't enjoy them you're some sort of impatient child who needs your hand held at every opportunity. It can't possibly be that you're just... into different stuff. Hell, I've had friends who are fans of the series, not just random internet people, act this way.

Haven't read through it all yet, but I had a similar experience. I despise 13 for a while host of reasons, so I skipped 13-2 when it originally came out. Then someone on here did a blog wayyyyy back, and I think specifically mentioned it fixing my biggest combat issues (that when the character you were controlling died you game overed, and also that you couldn't change characters mid-fight in 13) and I figured I'd give it a shot.

It's now easily in my top FF games. It has GAG ENDINGS, one of which is one of my favorite scenes in an FF game! It also gave us Crazy Chocobo, which rules. Honestly the whole soundtrack kicks ass and deserves to be talked about alongside the Nobou ones.

I also tried 13 again after this and Lightning Returns, thinking I had turned around on the series, but I still don't enjoy that game.

Man, I want a new one of these so bad. They made an arcade version that was (is?) regularly updated and had a bunch of 14 music up through Stormblood (I think also Nier music?) and I just want a way to play that stuff at home.

I totally get the desire for something like a story though. I liked the Kingdom Hearts game they did, which had something kinda like that, same with the Persona ones.

I didn't really think about it before, but Microsoft basically owns AAA first-person shooters now, huh? Franchise-wise at least they now have Halo, Doom, CoD, and even Overwatch.

It's not really my genre, but Battlefield/front at EA is basically the only thing left that's regularly putting out games, I think.

I just want cinematic trailers to also have SOME indication as to what kind of game it is. Like, if it's a sequel you know what your getting, but when it's a new IP, it's hard to get excited when you don't even know genre.

A good example is Slitterhead (which won't be my thing no matter what probably, but still). Everyone is all hyped about the Silent Hill dude, but I got big "team based online co-op vs monsters" vibes from that trailer, and unless I missed a press release there's nothing about what that game will be, mechanically.
