"Free golden assault rifle skins with '1337' emblazoned on the barrel for everyone! And that's not all! We're extending the Halo 5 beta period by 72 hours! Pre-order now!"
I replay most of my games, but there are a handful of games that I play more than others:
the Halo series
the Monkey Island series
the Dark Souls series
the Witcher series
MGS 3
Resident Evil 4
Red Dead Redemption
Elder Scrolls 3 through 5 (although, come to think of it, I still play 1 and 2 every once in a while)
Fable 2
the Bioshock series
Making this list made me realize that I replay games a lot. I guess the reason I like replaying games is because me knowing what happens next doesn't really make what happens any less cool. A good story is a good story, regardless of the fact that I've already seen it and vice versa. And exceptional gameplay is still exceptional, even after I've mastered it (although I have burned myself out on games completely after playing them obsessively for a long time.) And most games are dynamic enough for me that they don't ever feel exactly the same every time (even the linear ones), which is one of my favorite things about this medium.
I'm not going to ask the "Am I the only one?" question, but I found Just Cause 2 to be completely boring and lifeless. The stunts were only fun for a couple hours for me. And after I was done messing around with stunts, it turned into a GTA 3 style "blow something up and run away from police" and "find 400 collectibles scattered around the map" type of thing, which I'm not a fan of. I didn't like the way the shooting controls felt either. It felt really floaty and imprecise. With all that said, I'm still willing to give this third game a try. Better technology and a now more experienced Avalanche Studios makes me hopeful that this will be the one for me. I'm more interested in their Mad Max game though. Hopefully both games will be good!
