Nostalgia Lane

These games are on the smile of every child, on each summer evening, and the scent of my mother's perfume...These are the games I am most nostalgic about.

Not in any order.

  • I played this game repeatedly and its individual minigames hundreds of times. The Pickles house felt so lonely yet alive as a hub world. It was the first time (and only?) that I felt virtual solitude. My favorite minigames were minigolf, goose chase and Reptar rampage which you unlocked at the end.

  • I played this so much without understanding what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go. I unlocked a bunch of zones and different colored Yoshi's without knowing how!

  • Probably the best handheld experience I've ever had, perhaps only matched by Harvest Moon GB.

  • I played this game with one of my cousins more than any other. We must've gone through the airplane battle minigame a thousand times.

  • Many hours were spent away, happily taking care of my cows Moomy, Mumi, etc. and gifting mushrooms to elves.

  • Man, the feeling you got when you killed that genie-looking final boss with a butt-stomp... I will take that to the grave.

  • I got this game instead of Mario 64 when I was a kid and made my sister cry. It was a real fun game but I suspect that killed my sister's interest in video games. I still carry that guilt. But damn if this wasn't a fun game.
