Same one install limit, like with Vista?  Or is it better now?

I never said said I was going to pirate the game.  Just  letting people know about the DRM, and that it is also on Steam.  I'm 40 years old and I've never pirated a game in my life.  And I do use Steam.  So you need to take a chill pill bucko.

First of all, this is a great game in a great series. If you are into city building/trading/strategy/simulation games. And in this version they really went to town on the visuals. So I would love to recommend it.

Buuuuuuuutttttttttttt........

DRM – Tages online validation DRM with a three install limit. Sure you can up the limit with all call, if Ubisoft is still in business. Which they may not be 10 years from now.

And this DRM is not removed for the Steam version. And no I'm not joking. It is listed on the Steam page and I have talked directly with a ubisoft representative.

So this is a $50 rental.

I have been ripping them a new one on their forum for the last three days. I am now going back and forth with a Ubisoft representative, but I don't think they are going to budge on this one.

Hard to justify this purchase when there will, at some point, be a cracked version without an install limit. And I have tried to explain things to Ubisoft, about EA and Spore and how the cracked version with be more user friendly.

I did try and that's all I can do.

And by the way, don't mention that you are going to pirate software on the Steam forums, you will get banned for life, don't ask me how I know.  Wink wink.

@Jman522:

Kingston, never lets me down and isn't that pricey.  Always check and see what your motherboard supports though, you never know.

Sorry no.  Not if he wasn't going to buy the game anyways.  Just like how I am not going to buy Anno 1404 because of the DRM.  Doesn't matter if I pirate the game or not, I'm still not going to buy it.  "
Here's a great idea. You sound like you were willing to pay for Anno had it been DRM free? Then why not continue using your pirated drm-free copy, but also purchase the game to justify your use of it? To be honest, if you disagree with doing that, you're just being cheap. "

I am without a doubt not going to buy it.  Whether or not I pirate it is a separate issue.  I may not bother (I'm happy playing the previous version of the game).  the point is not to give them my money.  it's a DRM protest. If they remove it, even in Steam, I will by it. That's what I did with spore and it worked. I didn't buy it, so they removed it. Looks like my little protests do work, ha ha.

And yes I know steam is also DRM, but I would rather have one DRM thing on my machine than one for each game.

The new game Anno 1404 (or Dawn of Discovery in the US).  Has a TAGES DRM that requires online activation and has a three install limit.  Even if you get it via steam.

I am 40 years old and I've been gaming since pong,  This will be the first game I have ever pirated.

If I don't feel they are going out of their way to make me happy I am not giving them any of my money. When I go to work I bust my ass to making the customer happy because that's my job. I will work overtime without pay and do what ever it takes. And I expect the same level of service when I am the customer.

I have purchased hundreds of games over the years, some I didn't even like and played for about one minute. And I have had nothing but respect for developers. And Ubisoft comes along and treats me like this? Like I'm the bad guy? F*** them.
