Def Jam: Fight for New York had a creator. Didn't play the other ones, but I really liked that one.

Edit to elaborate: You could train in three different styles that would kind of start to blend into one as you unlocked more variety within each style. You didn't have total control over what moves you had, but it's something that still seems pretty rare, which I think is a shame since I had a lot of fun with it.

I've been waiting for a long time for someone to make some kind of fighting game RPG that's a nice middle ground between the absurdity of most fighters and the clumsy "technical" styles of MMA and Wrestling games. Something like a Bloodsport RPG, but with more depth than just a few fight montages and JCVD punching people in the penis.

This is actually the first game I got a steam refund for. I might pick it back up once it's cheaper, but no, after actually playing it, it doesn't feel like $60 worth of game to me. It totally feels like the MP mode of a larger game given how limited the actual scope of it is.

It's not a bad game. The gun play is good and the destructible environments are cool, but the "operator" class system left it feeling really bland to me. I bought it knowing that it was set up in such a way, but once I saw how limited the amount of actual flexibility and kit customization each operator had was, it really lost a lot of appeal. Fixed speed/armor, very few choices for weapons per character, and only a handful of weapon attachments. It comes across to me as being something that was just easier to balance and implement than any real asset to tactics (which probably isn't the case...), but there were several instances of head scratching on my part as to why they made certain decisions for any other reason. I can only have smoke grenades, not explosive grenades on Ash because.... reasons.... even though she uses a HE grenade launcher as her "ability." It's not like her "unique character personality" doesn't like explosions or something. In fact, it's kind of her thing.

Compounded with the fact that each operator is split into Attacker and Defender designations, and can only have one on the map at any given time means that even if you do find an operator/kit that you really like (which I didn't), there's still a good chance you won't actually get to play as them all the time.

People seem to be liking it a lot, which is great, because my first multiplayer experience was the original Rainbow 6, and I don't want the IP to just fizzle out, I just wish there was more to it. And I'm not holding my breath for any sweeping additions with future content. But if there is, then sure, I'll pick it up again.

I very quickly got tired of the musical options in Fallout 4. Not because they weren't good, there was just not enough of it given how much you might hear any one selection repeat, whether it be the actual Radio stations, or the world ambiance music, the latter being the most noticeable since I hardly ever listen to the radio stations. It's a delicate balance to find in musical composition when creating a persistent, minimal, and ambient mood; the music needs to be there just enough to enhance the experience, but not draw attention to itself to create a distraction.

After setting a playlist to multiple hours of Cryo Chamber/Atrium Carceri's ambiance (it's very Silent Hill if you need a point of reference), the game world really started to feel much more suited to my tastes. I've always felt Fallout 4 is a bit too cheeky and lighthearted for it's own good some times in most regards, the music in this latest one included. I'm fully into the juxtaposition of Leave It To Beaver and the atomic age apocalypse, but it feels very restrained a lot of the time to me, to where the self referential humor of the smiling Pipboy starts to actually overshadow the idea that it's... you know, the post-apocalypse. Also, where are all the glaringly absent crosses in all these churches I keep finding? Kind of diminishes the supposed emotional impact of finding ruined buildings of worship when there's no religious iconography, Christian or not, anywhere to be seen. Feels very sterile and "safe."

I'm rambling. Anyway, I figured I'd share :) Just in case there were others out there that wanted more of "that" Silent Hill/Quake ambiance but didn't know exactly where to find "it." I find pretty much all of their stuff pretty on point for what I want, because more often than not, people seem to try too hard and add way more than is needed for a minimalist soundtrack. No shredding facemelters here.

And hypothetical slow motion travel montage music etc etc:

Share and discuss, wasteduders. I'm interested in everyone's apocalypse music.

@armaan8014: I don't know about that, but I appreciate the compliment :)

And I did swap out the image a few times, mostly because I didn't want to flood the post with too many pictures. I was going to post one last night, but for some reason the image isn't showing up in the text field here, it's just a broken image symbol even though I uploaded it. But I'll just try posting it anyway to see if it works.

EDIT: Never mind. It seems to have worked... kind of. I figured it was time to come in from the wastes for a bit of R&R and a haircut. Little did I realize that I was from Planet Claire.

@baronsamedi: Same.

Vault stuff:

I've found 4 Vaults, all of them with people just kind of hanging out, two of them being shooting galleries of Gunners. It's actually really disappointing since the whole idea of future archaeology in some untouched and unspoiled pre-war installation is a big draw for me in the post-apocalypse setting. So far nothing like that at all. I don't know how many Vaults there are, but I really hope there's at least one sprawling pre-war complex I haven't found that isn't being squatted by more cannon fodder.

I found this while running about and figured I'd give everyone in the thread their due props. Stay classy, GB Wastelanders.

@tennmuerti: Yup, pretty much.

I also kind of assumed something similar, but more of a technical desk position. And also with the added layer of not really being on board with the idea of having the boat anchor of an infant, but it's what was expected. As she's becoming more comfortable (and ostensibly mentally unhinged) in her current situation, the dangerous freedom of the wasteland is becoming more to her liking than the safe prison of the domestic life in an "Eisenhower's America" inspired setting.

That's basically how I'm justifying not pursuing the main plot at all in my current play through heh.

@tennmuerti: Darn. I'll take some time to figure out how to upload a save for you to Nexus or something in the not too distant future if you don't sculpt a character you're happy with before then. :)

@demoskinos:I primarily followed the main plot the first time through just to get a feel for what the catalysts were for different... things. Like when I kind of unknowingly started the Minute Men quest line, and I wasn't really into the idea of all the settlement building/defending stuff. Even though most of the quests/quest givers just kind of wait for you indefinitely once they start, I like to keep both my mission journal and the global scripting as clean as possible. In Skyrim, things got really broken for me a few times when I just left objectives hanging around. So now that I know what not to do and who not to talk to, I can just head out and explore the other 80% of the game with a clear head hehehe.

@militantfreudian: In the first bathroom pic? It's the same character, I've just been adding more scars and such as time goes.
