I really wish we could have more video and podcast content put up on the site. However, I understand that that would just make boring content as it would burn out the staff. The whole thing about it not being edited is what i love about the sites content and if you want more polished quicklooks and whatnot i suggest you turn to smaller vloggers on youtube or bigger content-sites as gamtrailers or whatnot.

Hearing Carmack speak of the engine adapting the rendered horisontal resolution if the workload steps above a certain threshold. Combine that with the fact that in most games nowadays, you can notice a certain stutter when it auto-saves. I'd be as bold to guess (without any real technical knowledge about how troublesome this would be to implement) that a auto-save would make the workload spike and the engine adapt itself, eventhough not much is going on onscreen, making the lower resolution very noticable compared to an action-packed screen.

Maybe they made a technical design-choice in having the user going back to the menu screen, where no real action is happening on screen, save there and not notice any change in fidelity. People might've judge that as really off-putting/buggy.

Feels like the game missed a huge opportunity here, anyone know if it's in a dlc pipeline or something?

Would you be down for no physical copies of games in the future?

In the future? I'm all aboard this with Steam and XBLA/PSN already. Retail discs are only bought when I'm forced to (console 1:st party titles/exclusives).

I don't need to worry about lost discs, I can just hit re-download if it's removed from the HDD or the eventual hoarded piles of games/music I don't use anymore. And especially, I don't need to even leave the apartment to buy my entertainment.

Hearing the lower Afterlife-music in Mass Effect 2 for the first time gave me some hardcore goosebumps. That and the trailersoundtrack of Human Revolution:

Hardcore wiki-readers are probpably fed up with these kind of novelty concepts.

So far I can just think of Warhammer: Space Marine (where I first thought of it) and the Battlefield series.

Any other suggestions?

@Three0neFive: To be fair, the "I can see something you can't" argument comes off kinda smug aswell. Even though it's more of a blessing not noticing these kind of thingsimho:)

I had the exact same problem on the PS3, and my maschine is far from "fucked". Don't worry.

My guess is that some are more prone to notice these kind of problems than others. I do especially now that I've converted to a full-on gaming PC, going back to some titles on consoles recently almost made my eyes water. I'm guessing it's something you don't notice unless you're used to something better.
