Seems people aren't into judging others. That's fine, but it's dishonest. We judge everyone all the time for reasons we're often ashamed of. I stand by my judging the shit out of others who dismiss massive wealths of knowledge outright because of the format. I just implicitly called video games a "massive wealth of knowledge."
Fuck it. Standing by that too.
I should be clear that my judging the shit out of people is entirely an internal dialogue. I really couldn't be bothered to say anything to those people.
I doubt anyone would argue your point about everyone making judgments. We do. It's the counterweight to our curiosity, an advantageous trait.
In an attempt to best utilize their limited time, some people judge other media as more valuable than video games. They may judge many media to be more valuable than video games, to the point of never playing them. And while some would call this narrow-minded, there are others who would call it narrow-minded to only know one or two languages, to only travel once or twice a year, or only be attracted to one sex.
Are these people wrong? According to your reasoning, they're right. There are entire experiences and vast amounts of knowledge you're missing out on by not doing the things they think you should do. Problem is, you've only got so much time, and (I assume) a limited supply of funds with which to broaden your horizons. That's where judgment comes in. It's not negative, but it's not informed. So if you're able to judge how best to spend your time, how can you hold it against others when they do the same?
People here are trying to give you some perspective so that you can move from judging people to understanding that they're making the same choices you are, but with different results. But instead of absorbing that shared knowledge (something you've admitted in this very thread that you're compelled to do), you're simply clinging to what you said. (Armchair psychology: Probably because you perceive changes in position or worldview as weakness.)
So you can either continue to judge people and be a twice-over hypocrite (for rejecting a source of knowledge, and for judging people who make judgments), or you can utilize this source of knowledge and reevaluate your judgmental stance.
