A bit off topic: To respond to people saying that Soul Calibur 4 actually sucked, I think that's because most players don't "get" fighting games and their sequels.
A fighting game is meant to be played at a very high level in order to appreciate it. Most reviewers I see these days just say "the gameplay is great and..." while not really understanding the fighting game at all. Western reviewers seem intent on reviewing a fighting game for what it includes AFTER the fighting game, in Tekken's case: The Campaign mode. A fighting game is not about the extra modes it comes with, it's about the SAME characters that appear, the NEW characters that appear, the simple refinements to balance and the additions that make the gameplay more interesting.
Take a look at other fighting games- Tekken. To the casual observer, the only things that have changed from each iteration is the addition of Tekken Bowling, Tekken Campaign, and graphics. Street Fighter 2's later iterations introduced Supers, SF3 had Parries, SF4 had Ultras/Focus Attacks. Each Street Fighter had subsequent iterations on the SAME respective engine, with only new characters and balances. Who do you think these balances were intended for?
The point is, unless you play Fighting Games hardcore, the game, in scrutiny, is not meant for you. Is there a difference between Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Street Fighter, when all you do is mash buttons? One has swords, one has a panda, one has fireballs. That's IT. It's the Hardcore Fighter Gamers that should be reviewing these games, because they're the ones that can actually appreciate it for what it is, not some trivial issue such as breast size or how star wars characters don't really make sense in the fantasy setting. I'll have you know, Soul Calibur 4 was a pretty good game for what it is and intends to be, a refinement of the Soul Calibur series.
