Anyone know any good asian movies?

So I watched Chi Bi (Red Cliff or Battle of the Red Cliffs) and to put it short and sweed.

Freaking epic, in every sense of the word. Lord of the rings epic even.

Then there's The good, The Bad and The Weird which is a funny but also awesome take on the classic movie of similar name.

So I was wondering, what good asian movies would you recommend?

I always suggest Battle Royale.

Oldboy is good too.
Mother is kind of decent.
I liked Sukiyaki Western Django...but it's not something I'd reccomend.
Auditon
Freeze Me

Fearless. Kung Fu Hustle. The Unborn (has absolutely nothing to do with the American film of the same name, even though both are horror films). Sword of the Stranger.

Looks very interesting indeed. I'll add that to the list. So far I've got Warriors of Heaven and Earth, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Seen it long ago but I want to see it again :P) and Chi Bi part 2 and that film about Battleship Yamato in WW2

Kung Fu Hustle was amazing, wasn't there gonna be a sequel to that? Wonder what happened to it. Fearless I've always wanted to see so that's a definite add to the list, thanks. It's pretty late. I'll check out the rest of the names more thoroughly tomorrow when I wake up. If you guys got anymore don't be afraid to tell. There's plenty that I haven't seen.

Police Story and Supercop are two good Jackie Chan movies. Oldboy is pretty good also, and it is also pretty damn weird.

Yeah. Been meaning to see the older Police Stories, never saw supercop though. It's super hard to find non-dubs of Jackie Chan movies though. I HATE DUBS! I don't know why people prefer them over original language.

I thought Red Cliff was great as well.

The last one I watched before that was "Shinobi", not great but fun enough. Also if you like Takeshi's style, "Hanabi" and "Kikujiro" are two I watched recently that left me satisfied.

@Hero_Swe: I wouldn't say I prefer them, but they add an extra comical layer. I think some of the dubs are hilarious actually.

The vengance trilogy by Chan-Wook :
Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
Old Boy
Lady Vengeance

I almost had a heart attack when i saw Best Buy had all three in a blu-ray box set. But Old Boy IS A MUST SEE. That movie is all kinds of good and is the movie i always seem to bring up to people to watch

Oldboy is pretty good.
Sukiyaki Western Django is gorgeous (visually speaking)
And Kung Fu Hustle destroys 90% of everything.

With Halloween approaching I will start with South Korean films that fit the holiday.

  • A Tale of Two Sisters
  • Thirst
  • Memento Mori
  • The Host

As far as my favorites are concerned, just about anything directed by Akira Kurosawa.

I loved Mother, I simply sound her so depressing and just a pure, honest and sympathetic.

Also, Who Am I by Jackie Chan, only because of

Throwing out some more suggestions:

Zatoichi (The 2003 version. There are a lot of Zatoichi films and media out there)
As Tears Go By
Days of Being Wild
Fallen Angels
Happy Together
In The Mood For Love
Hana-bi
Sonatine
Kikujiro
Suicide Club
Dead or Alive

I don't know if Brother counts, but it's still good.

Jackie Chan is still good. Just look at New Police Story or Shinjuku Incident.
