@cadwr: I can understand, besides, I don't really understand the way Polygon reviews, do they say their personal opinions can severely effect a score? If they don't, I don't know why people have come to that conclusion.
I'll give you an example of how this was a similar issue before. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, an adventure game based of a short story, features a level where the protagonist takes the role of a Nazi Doctor. All of it's done in a rather tasteless way, making the Holocaust look stupid. The developers where trying to be overly sadistic, and ended up making a mockery of the events. Regardless of those complaints, the game certainly suffers from worse problems, with that level being the least of them.
However, at the time that's all people were willing to talk negatively about, not the clunky mechanics, the inane puzzles, and a plot that butchers the original short story. I think it's the same case here, people look at the review and see what she thinks is tastless, and overlook what she thinks is bad game design.
