@cadwr: I can understand, besides, I don't really understand the way Polygon reviews, do they say their personal opinions can severely effect a score? If they don't, I don't know why people have come to that conclusion.

I'll give you an example of how this was a similar issue before. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, an adventure game based of a short story, features a level where the protagonist takes the role of a Nazi Doctor. All of it's done in a rather tasteless way, making the Holocaust look stupid. The developers where trying to be overly sadistic, and ended up making a mockery of the events. Regardless of those complaints, the game certainly suffers from worse problems, with that level being the least of them.

However, at the time that's all people were willing to talk negatively about, not the clunky mechanics, the inane puzzles, and a plot that butchers the original short story. I think it's the same case here, people look at the review and see what she thinks is tastless, and overlook what she thinks is bad game design.

Meh, it's Blizzard, in all the years you've played, have the mods ever helped casuals out? Hard to give them shit though, considering the community that they've had for the last few years. Dealing with the majority of those punks would probably try just about anyone's patience.

The worst thing about that Polygon review is her constant use of the first person. It is a horrible read.

Surprised no one else brought that up. When trying to be objective, writing in the first person is a big no no.

I really dislike the persona that Jim Sterling gives off. I really hate it, actually.

However, sometimes his points are pretty good and the actual ideas that he wants to get across are worth hearing once in a while, so I'll give it a listen. Just don't expect me to be a happy person when it's over.

EDIT: OK, so I listened to it. He dropped his usual annoying persona and "talked straight", so to speak. He just said his piece and was done. And while I agree with him, I can't help but remember Phil Fish's obscene digs at the Japanese games industry and PC games. Every single party involved in this affair, from Fish to Marcus Beer to the people harassing them both, could have handled things better, but at the end of the day Fish could have been a more decent person beforehand. If you want to criticize the Japanese games industry, write a blog with some proper criticism instead of using your soapbox to announce an opinion as equally qualified as a Youtube comment.

Hey, guess what. Don't be a dick, and people are less likely to be dicks to you. I don't remember people like Todd Howard or Ken Levine or John Carmack saying things like that, and I also don't remember any reports of them losing their shit on Twitter or Facebook, or quitting the games industry for a while.

Oh, yeah, and the people on the internet who constantly harass creators and people who put themselves out there in public? Those guys are the real worthless fuckers. No matter what someone says, you don't send death threats to people. Why would you want to do that? If, by chance, someone is reading this and has actually done that, what do you get from that?

I've never really liked how Phil acts in public, but it's not my place to judge another human being. With that, I'd say I completely agree with every point you made, everyone involved could have handled this situation maturely if they had just taken a moment to think about what they were doing. An unprovoked attack, met by an unprovoked attack, should not be answered by the internet slinging more unprovoked attacks.

I imagine the backlash if they tried to ban GTA V in Australia would be much too much for the people who bring down the classification to handle. Besides, GTA V, as has been stated, rewards you for robbing banks, killing people, and buying stocks. So, eh, no problem there.

Katawa Shoujo. All other paths than Manly Picnic are the Renegade path.

I went in that game expecting another shitty visual novel, and came out amazed. Rin is the only one I played through, but man what an amazingly written character she is. I must warn some people though, the sex scenes come out of literally nowhere, shell-shocked me a bit.

If we're talking about Visual Novels, then Morenatsu is the best I have ever played.

Uh.. I liked Rin because she was a very human character. So, thanks, but I think I'll have to pass on that one.

@zeik: I played both, the original when it came out, and the enhanced version later. It's still pretty bad, I remember reading every voice actor except Geralt ended up being replaced in the Witcher 2.
