There's a scene where Mikey and White have an argument about whether a gun or sword is best - is this a reference to the knife vs bat question that is now essential GB lore? Or am I just digging where there is no dirt and finding a reference where there is none?

For me, it's largely music (to which, in my mind, is an album where I don't want to skip any songs, as they're all fantastic):
CKY - Infiltrate, Destroy, Rebuild
Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance
Coheed & Cambria - mainly their first four albums
Infant Annihilator - The Elysian Grandeval Galeriarch/The Battle of Yaldabaoth
Vulvodynia - Everything they've done since Psychosadistic Design
Machine Head - The Blackening
Holding Absence - The Greatest Mistake of My Life
I, Valiance - The Reject of Humanity
Mastodon - Emperor of Sand (actually, pretty much every Mastodon album is fantastic...)

Movies like Dredd, the John Wick series, Fast 5/6 (I'm one of the lunatics that prefers 6 to 5), Nolan's Batman movies, and Into The Spider-Verse I would call perfect as well.

The games list is probably too long, but the two most immediate for me are Half-Life 2 and Super Street Fighter 4 (my boy Honda got too many nerfs in each subsequent 'update' :'( ). I'd also include Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 in the 'perfection' category, as well as Tetrinet. I could go on for a really long ramble on the other games I'd deem 'perfect', but those are the first 4 I think of...

I included that section in a clip I put on YouTube around TI4 - it was the first Bombcast Brad hosted :)

I feel that a large part of my interest in an animated show is tied to the quality of the animation, tied with the quality of the plot/characters and the quality of the voice acting. I tried to watch Dragon Ball Z Kai, and found it tough to stay invested because I found the animation to be relatively sub-par. Conversely, I really enjoy the animated Harley Quinn show as much for the 'visual' quality as I do for the voice acting and the writing. I find that Z's animation suffers by comparison even more to pieces like Ninja Scroll or Ghost in the Shell, which I get may be totally blasphemous or heresy in some people's minds, but I just couldn't stick with it beyond the first 2 episodes or so. Is there something wrong with me? And is DB Super more proficiently animated?

@honkifyoureglad: Just more as amusing speculation than anything, given the super-thin premise for a movie plot it would be. The concept of a Tetris or Asteroids movie has more potential depth as a movie plot than Gran Turismo appears to have.

Have many people been playing this? What do you think of it? Worth the buy? Or nah?

I was wondering if anyone knew how, as an Australian, I could call into the DT? Google Voice isn't in Australia, and I know next to nothing about VOIP/internet phone stuff... Any help would be appreciated :)

Elden Ring is a product of interation and refinement. I don't think you get to ER if not for DS, so making DS open world, before 'perfecting' the other elements (haven't played ER yet, for the record) would have likely been to its detriment, in my opinion...

@taofeld: I feel like you're changing the intent/implications of your previous post. The language of that post, with 'owe' (and the entitlement that implies; like I said, it's the same as saying a wrestler owes you a signature for buying a shirt) and 'ridiculous', as well as saying 'no-one is traveling, so the staff should be working during the holidays' implies something different than 'dude has legitimate complaints as a paying customer' to me - which I also disagree with as well, as to me, dude just seems to be wanting to throw shade because things aren't what they used to be, rather than offering legitimate complaints/constructive feedback.

@taofeld: Is the subscriber argument not the same as saying a wrestler owes you a signature because you bought their shirt? We pay for the content, not to demand when and what content is produced.

GOTY has never been a Premium podcast, and the separation from the rush of the end of the year actually allows for greater contemplation of the value of that year's games. To say it's ridiculous to have it when it was seems pretty hyperbolic - but hey, maybe we just have different expectations of the site, particularly as it's actually gotten smaller from a core staff perspective...
