That's strange, mine was Amazon as well.  It's been a couple days since I last tried it though.  Maybe they caught on.
 
I did the same thing for Champions to get into the open beta there but I remember it wasn't an option for Aion because they specifically had a thing on the main product page that said "once your beta code has been mailed, you may not cancel your order."

I was actually able to cancel my pre-order, and re-order multiple times with different beta codes each time.  Where did you order from Buzz?

I totally had the standing-drunk looking "sleep" emote on when at Quark's bar but it showed up as my just standing there looking at the shelf.
Someone said something to that effect when I was on my bridge too.  If the emote was chosen before they entered, it has to be refreshed for them to see it.  This is why my people thought I was standing on my captains chair rather than showing off my "sit captain" emote.

You can collect all of the skill points you want (unless they mean maximum) but you can never collect a borg bridge officer unless Cryptic gives you the finger by selling it as a microtransaction down the line.

But if none of those things are worth $20 to you, go with Steam like Jeff did.

I both mock and admire you for this.  Not just for the freedom of being out of your skull, but because your commitment will make this a better game than it would be otherwise.

Are people getting a gift in their mailbox like they usually send for special occasions?  Last one I got was the baby blizzard bear.

Grim Fandango's weak profits were the reason Lucasarts called it quits with their entire adventure game division, and making one without Tim Schafer right after everyone kisses his feet for Brutal Legend would not be a wise decision.  It made more sense when they announced the since-canceled Full Throttle: Hell On Weels because, back then, he wasn't famous enough to get his name on the box art.
