Abel is not Charlie. It would be cool if he was...but he's not.
Also, if they end up putting additional characters in at paid DLC...that's bullshit. You cannot offer up new characters like that and limit it ONLY to people willing to pay for them. Any type of roster updates need to be offered free of charge.
That would be like charging for Madden roster updates.

How can you be so sure Abel isn't Charlie? He's lost his memory yet "recognizes" Guile's Sonic Boom. He hails from France, like Remy, and his normals are carbon copies of Remy's. Remy had specials similar to Guile/Charlie as well. I also heard it from a knowledgeable friend that Abel's theme music is damn near the exact same as Charlie's old Alpha 3 music.
But besides all that... look at Abel's hair. HE HAS THE GOOFY POOF at the front! That's like DNA EVIDENCE! 0_o

I just don't like it when people say things like, "this is good, but not great" as though my opinion is in serious need of correction and they, ever so graciously, are coming down to my level to help me think more like them.
I'm a longtime Street Fighter fan and player, and from what I've experienced so far, Street Fighter IV is a great game. At the very least, it's an outstanding starting point.
Anyway... those SFIII pics up there are freakin' R-A-D gnarly! I never knew Q could drag Gill around by his face. (Yes, the FACE!) Q would be a kickass addition to SFIV, come to think of it. I'd also like to see how Necro would stack up in a game with Sim.
As far as character selection/registration goes, if we're going to run back-ups, I think it should go like this:
Everyone chooses a MAIN. This MAIN tourney character is ALWAYS used first by all players in all brackets. After the first match, winner MUST keep playing as their main while loser may then choose their ALT character.
If the player using their ALT character wins the second match, then THEY must now stick with their ALT for the tie-breaker match, and the loser of the second match may switch to THEIR alt.
The only time anyone may switch to their ALT is during a tournament set of matches. After every set, every player must go back to their main for the next fight. This would allow everyone to have a back-up plan without opening the door to counter-picking during opening matches.
