Good calls all around. I have to third (or fourth...?) the motion that we go double-elim too, and we should definitely have a 3rd place match.

After the first tournament, I think it might be a good idea to consider using a different format: best of three MATCHES, two ROUNDS each. I think this will give each competitor more time to work out the jitters, and to get an honest shot at adapting to their opponents. It sucks getting shut down right as you're having that "a HA!" moment.

In keeping with MB's suggestion to keep things more organized, would it be a good idea to run two chatrooms during the tournament this time? One will be for us to just chill out and talk in, the other will be for roll call/match results. Probably make things easier than sifting through nonsense while trying to find out the statuses.

Yeah, Blankas are a real pain. The only thing I've found to beat them is entirely internal and probably can't be taught. That is, I always have this feeling that Blanka players are out to score bullshit hits (they're not, but this is a part of my mental pep rally, heh). So I just to out of my way to make them mad that their little EX ball, hippety hoppety shit, and their slide won't work. Then I just whittle away with jump kicks, sweeps, throws.

Sounds like the a good strat against any character or player, I know. But part of beating Blankas, for me, involves convincing myself that the person playing him is getting furious with me on the other side :D

I'm about to be off for the night, but I just wanted to say ya'll are a cool bunch of dudes and I had fun tonight. Can't wait to get back at it. I'm also pretty disappointed in myself for caving in and making myself look like a poor sport against hall, because I'm really not like that at all. His whole "I'm SMASHING everyone" nonsense was just really annoying, so I felt the need to try and set the record straight. Dumb move on my part, because really it just sounded like, "uhh... quick, here's my excuse!" That's not what I was trying to do, nor what I EVER do... just kinda fell out of character. My bad.

What's everyone think of doing these things regularly, but finding some way - perhaps paypal - where we can all chip in for the prize? I really appreciate you putting this together Gambit, and double-extra appreciate you fronting for the prize. But if we've got enough dudes willing to put up something like a dollar each, we may not have to put it on one guy's shoulders in the future, heh. Just a thought.
