Granted, there were some sacrifices made at the end of FFXIII, but the primary goals that the characters had set out to achieve were achieved.

All that I can glean from this new project is that it's set sometime after Lightning awakens from crystal stasis and sets out on another journey for some purpose. What the journey is or what it entails, much less who else is involved, remains to be seen. And it's not assured that XIII-3 will be an entirely happy ending. I have a hard time seeing how some of the things that have been done could be easily undone without a queen mother of a deus ex machina.

Yes, and a queen mother of a deus ex machina is basically exactly what I expect. Though to be fair, I am making a lot of assumptions. Maybe this game will be awesome, and I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, however my gut reaction is that they should've just ended it with 13-2 and gone on to something new.

Ugh. You know, it's not a cliffhanger unless you think the only proper ending is a happy one.

Now we can watch square throw another few million dollars and years of development time into this sub franchise while they sit on a novel looking game like Versus, ensuring that when it finally comes out it will be completely irrelevant to modern gaming, just so Final Fantasy 13 can have a super happy ending. Damn it square.

I'm not saying that this is a good thing - I certainly do wish that they had included the sub because a lot of people prefer that - but to go completely nuts when this is still available through other avenues is kind of obnoxious.

Meanwhile, I'll stick to dubbed. I do not like reading my TV shows, anime included, and dubs have gotten a lot better anyway.

I don't really think you need to be able to speak Japanese to know if they're a good voice actor or not, but man that whole subbed elitism thing is annoying right? Before the Anime Discussion thread I couldn't find any anime fans who would take me seriously just because I prefer to watch shows in English, which made getting recommendations a huge pain.

I highly doubt jumping into this one would be a good idea. I highly doubt you could play any of them without the one before it and have much of an idea what's going on.

I really like the first one but after that the story totally lost me. This seems to be treading more along the path of the sequels, so I'm not that interested.
