Same here, but on the whole internet over the last six months or so. Also, same solution as some above. I'm on Android, and if I use actual Chrome for Android it seems to prevent these attacks a lot more often. I have no idea how/why Google allows ads that run malicious stuff like this.

Austin, you have a unique voice at Giant Bomb. By unique, I mean you were the only thing cancelling out the impending Rykert Revolution.

You've doomed us all, so I cannot wish you well. When society is nothing but pro-wrestling and Periscope feeds, look at all you have wrought, and despair.

I notice it primarily on the maps where both teams have to capture the central point, where it's symmetrical. The payload maps are just designed in such a way that there are always 2-3 chokepoints near the final objective, making sniping/turrets/Bastion very effective defense tools, which has a similar effect.

It doesn't do stat tracking like other games do, and it doesn't reveal damage numbers or anything in the game client. Damage dealt seems to charge ultimates faster, so if your team is suddenly doing more DPS, wouldn't quicker ults follow?

I'm on the good end of this as much as the bad. But it's just as puzzling either way.

Last week's Bombcast comments about Overwatch where they wondered if Overwatch sort of...dynamically balances...made me wonder too (I believe they referenced Mario Party).

The number of times a control point gets to 99% and then the momentum shifts (often in favor of the previously losing team) is suspicious. I mean, nearly impossible suspicious. I don't like getting stomped, nor is it fun to just dominate if your team is accidentally good, but it's just as frustrating to be winning and suddenly be like, "How did we get team wiped? Are they doing more damage? How are they getting ultimates so fast?"

I wonder if there is any reasonable way to define and track some of this stuff. I have fun playing, but the sheer quantity of "we're going to lose" or "we're going to win" followed by "what the hell is happening?" really makes me wonder. I've played a ton of shooters and I've never seen one where the balance shifted this fast, or this aggressively.

The second beta was enough for me to get the base game. I like it for what it is - simple, short round shooting with an emphasis on teamwork and tactics. Some rounds I got crushed and some rounds I did pretty well, but with the selection of characters available and the length of each match, I never felt like I was just doomed to either dominate or suck for very long.

I wanted to like TF2 but I didn't get in until it went free to play. By then, every server I joined was so insanely hostile to new players that I just deleted it and quit. I understood a little bit of it - it sucks being with an existing group and having fun, balanced games, and then having it all out of whack for a few months while the noobs storm the gates. But still, it was so off-putting...I used to admin a CS:S server, and THOSE people were nicer than the average pubbie on the TF2 servers I tried.

Anyway - my point is that I would actually be pretty happy if this game ended up feeling a lot like TF2. A short-round, team-based, over-the-top shooter sounds really fun right now, and getting in on the ground floor where I can at least acquire and maintain my usual level of old-man mediocrity seems great. I mean, hell, I played a robot angel lady who shoots yellow light to make your ouchies feel better, so that seems all right.

Thanks for the info! I'll wait for any US Yakuza releases. I like original voice acting because that way, I can't tell if the performance is good or bad (insane exceptions aside, I guess, but you get what I mean).

But when it comes to menus, mission text, inventory, etc...I'd be totally hosed.

It's too bad. I don't know why, but I'm a sucker for any kind of mob story. Irish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, English, etc. I have always liked good mob movies and games. I'll wait it out for these.

Hello! Sorry for the thread necro, but...

The recent news about Amazon making it a little easier to get my hands on Japanese games made me think about the Yakuza series. I only own a PS4, no other Sony consoles anymore.

Also, though, the year of Japanese I took in 1998 ain't gonna help me play the game much. I actually enjoy English subtitles if it has them, but is there any chance this game has a setting for the menus to have them be in English? I assume not, but I thought I'd ask.

It actually happened you guys, I'm still kind of in shock. They're even gonna bring 0 over as well (at some point).

Anybody else as stupidly excited as me?

Yes, but I don't have a PS3 anymore :( I would really like to try this whole series out, but I'm gonna have to wait for PS4 and Yakuza 0. I hope this doesn't become a self-fulfilling thing. "We didn't think we'd sell many copies, and we didn't, so let's not do this again." I feel like the US tends to jump on the early adopter bandwagon fast, and although I know a lot of dedicated fans of Japanese games probably still have PS3s hooked up, I certainly don't.

I love mob movies and games, whether it's Italian, Irish, Japanese, Chinese, or whatever else I'm missing (any good Russian mob games?). One way or another, I'll get my shot!

I am not sure why Austin is considered the news editor, or why GB even has a news editor.

I can tell that I won't always agree with Austin but he's clearly educated, thoughtful, and articulate. I come to Giant Bomb for deep cut discussions (in the past, usually on the Bombcast) about all kinds of gaming topics. While I didn't always care for Patrick's style in diving deep into issues, he kept trying.

The point is, there are sites that just throw the news out there - I can go there if I just need news. Let's not saddle Austin with re-posting trailers and game announcements and wasting his time trying to type a few paragraphs about it. I think GB would be better served letting him be a feature content producer, writing articles about very niche gaming cultures (Patrick's EVE series?), social issues reflected in games, and other interesting topics that require well-researched and thoughtful articles.

Just my two cents, but seriously, GB didn't need a news editor and a dude with a near-doctorate is pointless in that role.
